Bridal hair can be difficult. We’ve all seen it done well; we’ve seen it done badly. We have our favourite looks that we go back to, screen shot, memorise or cut out and put in a scrapbook, because of course, you want to look your most perfect on your big day.

So, here are some of my top tips for 2016:

1. Glow

Firstly you will want a glowing complexion: applying a cream or powder (or both) shimmer and highlight to the high points of the face will help create the illusion that you’re glowing from within. You want to enhance your natural features, not cover them up.

2. Dewy Complexion

The dewy, bronzed, healthy/natural glow is really on trend right now and it’s perfect for brides. Don’t cake on the makeup. You want to look as natural as possible without looking washed out in photos.

3. Lashes

Regardless of the makeup look, false eyelashes have the ability to bring the whole makeup look together. Because false eyelashes are curled, they allow the eye to appear bigger and more doe-eyed and they really do look incredible in all of your wedding photos. Everyone wants big eyes!

4. Braid it

To compliment a more natural, dewy makeup look, messy fishtail braids consisting of loose waves and beautiful twisted strands are hugely on trend this bridal season. Although some brides opt to have a more traditional hairstyle such as a slicked, high bun or a low bun with a middle part, a lot of brides at the moment are all about experimenting with braids, for both up-do’s and down.

Fish tail braids are perfect for off-the-shoulder wedding dresses as they give full view of the beautiful braid at the back without taking away from the detailing on the dress.

If you have a high neck dress, you’re better off wearing your hair up so your dress detail isn’t covered up with hair.

While a fishtail braid is more suited to those brides who have longer hair, there is also the option of a messy bun for those with short hair, which can be made to look the same from the front as a fishtail braid.

If you’re getting married (eeeeek, how exciting!), come and pop into one of our Fresh Hair and Body salons, there are 8 around Adelaide!
