We recently styled a beautiful lady’s birthday party and we wanted to share it with all you gorgeous people! It was a great example of how to make your event fun, personal and functional, while looking EPIC at the same time. And by “epic”, we mean AMAZEBALLS! Check it out…
Firstly, venue is KEY. Think about what the most important parts of your event will be for you. Do you want to enjoy the beautiful weather? Pick somewhere that allows you to do so but keep in mind, there must always be a back up plan!
What if it’s an outta-control Adelaide scorcher? Is there shade and cooling? Or if it ends up raining all day, can you move the party inside? A back-up plan is vital. Our client loves the sunshine and beautiful greenery so we were lucky enough to be able to host the party in a beautiful outdoor location overlooking the stunning Piccadilly Valley and the weather gods were VERY kind to us!
Next of course is the essentials for you event… seating, tables, food and drink. These things go without saying but how can you take it to the next level? Think of ways to use your essentials to form part of your decorations – the perfectly picked furniture items can make or break the look and feel of your party. For this party we chose fun coloured bar stools and simple white pieces to allow the coloured decorative elements to be shown off.
From there you can then concentrate on the finer details that take your party styling to the next level. Think of ways to personalise in a interesting and stylish way.
We used the bar tables and coffee tables as a decorative and yet functional element and in place of floral arrangements, also created custom designed stickers to add an element that was personal and decorative while also allowing the tables to be used for food and drinks.
Speaking of drinks…. we arranged for a special cocktail to be created in the name of the birthday girl – another great personal element that then was accentuated by featuring it on the bar menu.
Florals are almost always an essential element in our styling and this party was no different. We didn’t go crazy with a lot of small arrangements but instead went for impact – an amazing fresh floral “40” photo booth backdrop as well and some delicious meandering installations on the deck railing.
Games and activities can also be used not only for entertainment but can be visually appealing – croquet always looks gorgeous on a nice lawn!
Last but not least… did someone say CAAAAAKE? Don’t be afraid to try something out of the ordinary….. Oh yeah, this baby was a delicious as it looked!
