When you think of Adelaide fashion, you think, Liza. She’s like Madonna; she doesn’t even need a last name, everyone knows and loves Liza Emanuele. She’s flown the Adelaide fashion flag around the country and also in America and Europe.

As a little girl, Liza loved to entertain. She went from making costumes for school plays to having her fashion designs and wedding gowns paraded on catwalks all over the world. She could have easily carved out her fashion career in Europe’s fashion hot spots, but why would she do that when she could live out her dream in her hometown?! And that’s what she did. Liza set up her own signature boutique on King William Road, Hyde Park.

Many a star has worn her outfits, including a couple of Adelaide’s most famous international residents, Wang Wang and Funi! And just last week, the gorgeous Sonia Kruger was seen wearing a dress from her latest collection, Blue Sky and looking Krugericious!

Her fairytale hasn’t been perfect though, it’s been tough at times. With long hours, huge dedication and enormous passion, her strength and ability to adapt with change is what makes her rise above the rest. So today, we couldn’t be more proud to call her our Inspirational Adelady.

These are her fave places in Adelaide:

Fave coffee spot

Nutrition Republic has become the coffee institution of King William Road. My team and I are all gagging in the mornings to get one. They are strong…and they work!

Fave local designer

And God created Paul Vasilef (PAOLO SEBASTIAN)! His closing show for the Adelaide Fashion Festival was something I will never forget. As good as you will see anywhere in the world. He is also the sweetest young man and very grounded, which I believe is true to our Adelaide culture. I create versatile, wearable fashion. He creates works of art!

Fave place to take your kids

My girls love going to parks and Belair National Park is like a mini zoo. You will see animals roaming the grounds — emus, koalas, kangaroos. We took some friends from Europe and they thought it was incredible! That kind of experience is a different world to them.

Fave dessert bar

I’m more of a savoury girl, but a great gelato works a treat! Cotto’s salted caramel gelato is heaven in a cone!

Fave place to eat

Oh that’s like trying to pick a favourite child! I’m half Italian, so a massive foodie. Parisis, Press, George’s On Waymouth and Bistro Dom are some of my absolute faves.

Fave place to shop in Adelaide

For my husband or my grooms? I send them to Peter Shearer. They have a great selection and still great, intimate service.

For my kids? Cotton On Kids. Always affordable, fun and bright styles.

For me? One of the great perks of my job, is a brand new wardrobe each season on tap. Plus, I have Regina Sole Queen shoes too, in-house.

Fave place for a drink

Pop at the Adelaide Casino is gorgeous. It’s a stylish place to go after the theatre, or after dinner at Sean’s Kitchen. Casablahblah is so much fun for a bit of a play and has a great atmosphere. I also love the cocktails at The Flying Trunk on King William Road. You feel like you’re at a cool friend’s house.

Fave place for a weekend getaway in SA

There are so many regions I love in South Australia! Middleton, Port Lincoln and of course, the Adelaide Hills. Recently, I went wine tasting in the Barossa Valley with some girlfriends. We went to Grant Burge and some other iconic wineries. Then had at popular 1918 Bistro and Grill, which had sublime food and amazing service. We are going back next month, to go hot-air ballooning!
