Not to make you jealous or anything, but I come from a land of rolling vineyards, surrounded by some of the best wineries in the world. The Barossa is riddled with great wineries. Some of them are well known and others are a well kept secret. But today, I’m letting them all out of the bag — here are three wineries you MUST visit in the beautiful Barossa.

1. TeAro Estate (Williamstown)

:: 20 Queen Street, Williamstown

You’ll feel right at home here! I certainly do — and that’s not just because it’s within walking distance of my house. With it’s rustic, homely charm, great wines and an even better atmosphere, TeAro is the perfect spot for an afternoon drink with friends. It’s family owned and operated, the attention you are provided will make you feel like part of the family.

A local produce platter is the perfect accompaniment with a big glass of Two Charlies GSM, or in the warmer months, the Minnie and Elsa or Miss Savvy. I love that each wine tells a story about the family.

And keep an eye out for their Unplugged Sunday sessions, featuring talented artists. It’s the most relaxing way to spend a Sunday in the Barossa.

2. Pindarie

:: 946 Rosedale Road (off Gomersal Road)

Just about everyone knows Pindarie. Its won award after award and for good reason too! I love spending a lazy Sunday afternoon here with the kids in tow! The lawn area, cubby house and infamous haystack mean the kids can enjoy themselves playing and exploring while you indulge the highly recommended Shearer’s Platter – best washed down with a glass (or bottle) of Riesling. A great spot for a relaxing day with the family!

3. Seppeltsfied Winery

:: Seppeltsfield Road, Seppeltsfield

Another great spot for the family! Pack a picnic, do a spot of wine tasting and grab a bottle of wine to enjoy in the picnic grounds. The kids can run free, exploring the forest, kicking the footy or playing a game of cricket while you sit back and enjoy the serenity. With local boutique beers for sale too, even the hubby will be pleased! After lunch take a walk through the Jam Factory (important note – tell the kids they are NOT to touch anything otherwise it could be an expensive day out). For those looking for something a little more glam than a picnic, lunch at Fino is highly recommended!

Seppeltfield has recently undergone a huge renovation. It’s well worth the visit just to walk around the site and take in the grandeur and history of this beautiful iconic location.
