Everyone has a local, right? Ours is The Unley. It’s coincidentally only a short skip away from our office on Unley Road and conveniently only a 15 minute walk out of the City.

If you’ve never been before, you might be wondering why you should go? Well, I’ll tell ya!

Here are 5 reasons to enjoy OUR local, The Unley

1. The rooftop bar

This is where you’ll catch us on any given day, with a cocktail in hand and the sun on our backs, chilling and having a lol on the balcony. With a bright, colourful, fun atmosphere, it’s very easy to settle in for the long haul and if you don’t have to race home to the kids, why wouldn’t you? They also know how to party, making the rooftop bar ideal for small events with free venue hire — just ask the friendly staff and they’ll give you all the deets.

2. The nooks

There are so many nooks and crannies in The Unley that you could spend the whole day here, moving from spot to spot — and feel like you’ve been to seven or eight different venues. The revamped interior features a series of free flowing spaces, with the terrace, the patio, the rooftop, the front bar and lounge area and there’s a cosy fireplace both upstairs and downstairs.

3. The drinks

Oh, the drinks menu. It includes a massive range of local South Australian craft beers on tap,  Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and Barossa wines as well as a seasonal cocktail menu and delicious gin list. I’m partial to a cocktail, especially when there’s a rooftop bar or cosy fire singing my name. My hot picks for a cheeky cocktail are their Coconut Mojitos, the Pomegranate Green Ant Gin Fizz, the Elderflower Colada or while it’s still winter, try their Hot Cinnamon Apple Cider!

4. The food

The menu is designed by the head chef and includes all pub staples you’d want like the classic chicken parmy and salt and pepper squid, but also features a bunch of small plates and fancier restaurant-style dishes. And by fancy, I mean things like gluten free beetroot and halloumi salad with quinoa, roasted capsicum, heirloom tomatoes, pickled red onion and walnut honey vinaigrette, or the Middle Eastern Salmon with fragrant spices, chickpeas, chat potatoes, beans, golden raisins and honey. Yum!

5. The party

Smack-bang in such a central location, The Unley is ideal for throwing a party! With five unique function rooms to choose from, you can have small intimate gatherings, larger scale cocktail parties, or even corporate functions, depending on what you need.

The Unley can cater your event with either platters, small cocktail meals, or set menus where the chef can tailor your own special A La Carte menu. Obviously at this time, The Unley abides to strict Covid rules when it comes to events.

So, pop in and try our local, we might see you there — we’ll probs be in one of their many nooks!
