Saturdays are best spent in the vale. As are Sundays. And all other days of the week. The first Saturday of May this year was spent exploring new places, eating delicious food and visiting this cracker of a winery, Angove Family Winemakers.

Angove Family Winemakers; Adelady

Angove wines is a 5th generation family owned winery based in Mclaren Vale. It’s quite the classy cellar door, boasting walls made of old Adelaide Bluestone and beautiful wooden benches. The view from the wining and dining area will take your breath away. With huge glass doors that open to a deck overlooking vineyards and green rolling hills as far as the eye can see, this place is pure beauty.  I’m not sure if it’s the friendly staff, the artwork that dons the walls or the warmth of the heater, as soon as you walk in, you feel cosy and very much at home. They’re ticking all the boxes.

Angove boasts a state of the art tasting facility, where their Enomatic wine serving cabinets keep each wine at the perfect condition and temperature, so when they’re poured they’re perfect. I need to get one of these babies at my house!

I opted for a fair trade organic coffee, while the other half dabbled in the long list of reds.  I sat out on the decking in the sunshine, on a stool with a wine barrel as a table and soaked it all in. Soon my friend returned with a bottle of red and he drank. And we laughed and smiled, in complete awe of the scenery surrounding us.

And as if this winery doesn’t have it all already, it also offers facilities for functions, private and corporate events and even a board room with a cracker of a view (I know I’d never get any work done in there, I’d be to busy day-dreaming).  You can also get stuck into the cheese and regional platters from 12-3pm or if you’re after some sweets, they have those too. A must see. Well done Angove.
