Hola and welcome to Greenock’s newest and coolest kid on the block, El Estanco!
In what used to be a much smaller establishment right across the road, El Estanco went up a beat when they jumped ship and restored the massive and gorgeous old property at 18 Murray Street.
Seamlessly merging the old with the new, they have a massive dining area which spans across multiple rooms, inside and outside. “We even have mums’ groups who come once a week and lock themselves in one of the rooms, so they can chat and drink as much coffee as their hearts desire,” says owner Abby.
It seems to be uniquely South Australian to find a place where everything is made on site. The bread, the amazing Charlie Black coffee, the food and they even have their own pastry chef whipping up the most incredible cakes, tarts and sweet treats daily.
Their open wood-fired oven is put to great use every day with whole eggplants going in and out as well as their 11/10 pizzas every Friday — the aromas are next-level, as you can imagine. With a South American inspired menu, El Estanco is designed to bring people together to enjoy wholesome, locally sourced food. And believe me, your taste buds are guaranteed to have a full on dance party with their brekky and lunch menu.
Is it suitable for kiddies? Yes sir! They have a gigantic lawn area with kids games and plenty of room for your cheeky monkey’s to run a muck. Better still, grab a picnic rug, a take away coffee and cake and enjoy the fresh air on their manicured lawns.
El Estanco is definitely worth the 50 minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD, but make sure you come hungry! For more fantastic South Australian food and wine options, jump over to southaustralia.com.au.
