The countdown to Christmas is ON, which means a month of parties, drinks with friends and all our favourite naughty foods — basically, the exact combo that leaves your skin feeling gross. This is less than ideal, considering it’s the time of year to catch up with long lost friends and relatives. I mean, is it too much to ask to make them all green with envy with my glowing skin???
The amaaaaazing team at SILK Laser Clinics Burnside is our secret to making sure our skin gets some TLC, bringing it back from “could pass as a zombie” to “fresh and fabulous”.
So, out of all the wonderful treatments on offer — which ones do we NEED in our lives this December? SILK’s National Learning & Development Manager, Claire McLoughlin, is here to guide us in the right direction…
1. Preparation is key.
With late nights creeping up on us, your skin can begin to look a little tired and dull. Drink more water than usual and try your best to not skip your daily skincare routine, repeat after us… ‘I will wash my face before I head to bed.’ Your skin will thank you in the morning, and blocked pores are SOOOO last Christmas.
2. Microdermabrasion AKA the ultimate clean.
Is your skin screaming out for hydration? You can’t beat a great micro! This non-invasive, quick, and easy treatment can be squeezed into your lunch break to address dullness and uneven skin texture. This ‘go to’ skin treatment will fast track your way to glowing skin. This ultimate clean, buffs away dead skin leaving your face feeling fresh, revealing newer healthier skin cells and a serious post micro glow.
Upgrade your Cleansing Micro by adding a Mask, Vitamin Infusion and LED Light Therapy for the ultimate party skin.
3. Dermal Peel AKA a fresher, brighter, and clearer complexion.
Not as scary as it sounds, folks! The Dermal Peel is a fave of the SILK Staff. Peels work by removing the outer layer of the dermis (skin) prompting cell turnover, in turn stimulating the next generation of lovely fresh skin! SILK’s professional strength peels also load the skin with active vitamins, peptides and antioxidants and enzymes — basically, all the good stuff to strengthen and repair the skin.
Choose from Pumpkin and Pomegranate starter peels and for those who’ve prepped their skin in advance SILK offer the more intensive peels including the Alpha Beta and Catalyst Retinol Peel.
4. LED Light Therapy AKA general rejuvenation and combatting Acne.
LED light therapy is truly magical. Utilising precise wavelengths of LED Light it is used to rejuvenate and heal the skin. Try LED Rejuvenate (looks yellow to the eye) for general skin rejuvenation, also great as an add on any other skin treatment. Pimples sprout overnight? Then you’ll love LED Acne (looks like blue light) as it promotes oxygen to the cells killing bacteria, so it’s great for combatting unwelcome breakouts.
Let’s face it, we all want perfect skin like this girl!
5. Microneedling AKA the all-rounder!
Who knew punching tiny little holes in your face would work such wonders! Devotees of microneedling are growing. Tiny little pin pricks to the skins’ surface stimulates a healing response and enables the skin to absorb ‘mesotherapy’ (an awesome vitamin infusion) to the skin. This treatment is great for combatting pigmentation, acne scarring, open pores and stimulating collagen and elastin. This one is a ‘go to’ celebrity treatment!
6. Lip Fillers AKA Natural enhancement or added volume.
Ok, so technically not a skin treatment, but Lip Fillers are very popular at this time of year for all those meet-me-under-the-mistletoe vibes. At $349 per ml Lip Fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural product that is found in the body. Add hydration, restore or add volume for a Hollywood pout. SILK works with every client to achieve their desired look. We recommend that you top up every 4-6 months to maintain results.
So there you have it — some quick treatments to make sure your skin is looking as glowy as your Christmas tree this festive season! Your body might be screaming “NO MORE PARTYING” but your skin will be saying “check out how fab I look”.
It’s basically a Christmas miracle!
