Everyone has a holiday story and mine goes a little like this…
I was running away from a job that had made me go crazy. I was tired and burnt out and at age 25, I felt like I’d got to the top of my work-game, but lost sight of who I was and what was REALLY important.
The “old Lauren” loved painting, singing, walking and going out with friends. But I never found time to do any of this anymore. Being a radio producer had taken hold of who I was and there was no “Lauren” left in me anymore.
I was broken and exhausted, so in a split second I decided to leave my job, and on the same day I booked a one-way ticket to Europe which kicked off with a Top Deck Tour.
Having never been overseas by myself before, I was so nervous! I didn’t even know how to catch a bus in Adelaide, let alone get on a plane to Dubai, land in London, catch 3 tubes and 2 buses to my first destination, ‘Clink 78’, where I’d meet my second family for the next month.
This was the best thing I have ever done. It saved me.
On board the Coach were 30 people with 30 different stories from 12 different countries but with one thing in common…the desire to explore Europe.
In 28 days we travelled together through 14 countries. We partied in Spain, ate like Kings in France and lay beachside in Croatia! One day we had breakfast in Italy, lunch in Slovenia and dinner in Croatia. #livinglikeaboss.
I jumped on that bus alone and then left Europe with 30 life-long friends.
