1. SUPPORT LOCAL
You can’t get more South Australian – unless you’re a FruChoc! For the past 36 years the Leask family have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale. In 2011 with brothers Richard and Malcolm at the helm, they decided to try their hand producing their own wine – Hither & Yon (meaning “here and over there”). And we are SO glad they did! Even the artwork on the wine bottles is by local SA artists. An individual artist is chosen to design each label, using the brand’s striking ampersand as the core, and illustrated in the style of the wine.

2. IT’S CUTE AS A BUTTON
An old butcher’s shop come Cellar Door, how could you possibly go wrong?
Hither & Yon Cellar Door is located in High Street in the quaint Fleurieu Peninsula town of Willunga. A rustic space that beckons you to sit, share and take your time. Believe me, you won’t want to leave! Tastings are certainly an intimate experience with one large table in the middle of the room, complete with a super cute and cosy fireplace and break away nooks to linger in.
3. WINE + FOOD
With a great cafe next door it’s an easy proposition. Especially for Adeladies who LOVE their food, like me! Their ethos “slow down and enjoy” has shaped their wine style — vineyard driven, vibrant, fruity and expressive. “We want wines that people can take to their mates place anyday; simple wines with drinkability and great with food” says Malcolm. Once you taste their wines, you’ll quickly realise it’s ALL ABOUT THE WINE. You can taste the passion in each bottle.

4. THERE’S NOTHING ELSE QUITE LIKE IT
It’s a pocket-rocket full of personality. It may be small in stature, but it’s certainly got a giant heart. When you’re there you feel so comfortable, like you could be in your friend’s living room. The staff are so lovely and inviting too, you may even find yourself with some new BFFs! It’s the perfect place to take interstate friends and show off our fine state.
