We’re halfway through, parents! Only one week to go before the kiddos are back at school. 

If you’re stuck for ideas for what to do with the kids these holidays, we put together a few options for you. Whether your child is into sports, arts and crafts, cooking or nature — check out this list for some inspo, and retain your sanity in the process!

Duck and Turtle Fitness

This epic school holiday sport and fitness program is the perfect way to keep your kids active, social and most importantly — off their screens! Run by a team of trusted and qualified teachers, they offer a mix of different sports and fun games which helps to develop their physical fitness as well as resilience, communication, teamwork and sportsmanship. The program is open to primary school students of all ages, from any school, and is held at the following locations:

  • St Thomas School — Goodwood
  • Nazareth Catholic School — Flinders Park
  • St Joseph’s School — Hectorville
  • St Martin de Porres — Sheidow Park

TreeClimb — Adelaide CBD and Kuitpo Forest

Make the most of the warmer weather and get amongst the treetops at TreeClimb! Why not pack a picnic and settle in for the day. They say you never regret a workout, but equally — I reckon you never regret spending time in nature.

Woodhouse Adventure Park — Unplugged

Unplug your kids from their screens and get them to Woodhouse Adventure Park for their fully-facilitated ‘drop and go’ experience. Open to primary school children, they will be grouped by age and their activities designed to match. Your child is guaranteed to sleep well after a day of Woodhouse shenanigans!

Sprout Cooking Classes

At Sprout, your child will learn the very important life skill of cooking… while your kitchen at home stays clean! Classes are suitable for 5 – 16 year olds and adapted to the child’s age. They’ll learn to cook fresh, seasonal and healthy meals from scratch, using proper equipment. Parents — this is an activity that can actually offer you a return on investment!

Craft Mania at Unley Shopping Centre

Looking for a FREE activity to break up the days these holidays? Unley shopping centre’s Craft Mania is your answer! With a host of crafty activities for the kids to get amongst as well as face painting, balloons and glitter tattoos, this is a cheap and cheerful way to break up the day. Little Picassos School Holiday classes and Art Camp — Glenelg, Hyde Park, Magill

Got a little picasso on your hands or a child that loves to express themselves with paint? Book them into a school holiday class or extend their skills even further with a 2 – 3 day art camp experience. There’s something to suit every budding artist from ages 2.5 – 16.

Play at the Bay — Glenelg

The Play at the Bay school holiday program is bursting with activities for kids of all ages and interests. There are all types of workshops from drawing, photography, LEGO, coding and robotics and even balloon twisting! There’s so much to see and do but places are limited so make sure you check out the program and secure your spot.

Adelaide Planetarium — MEGAfauna of the Great Southern Reef Special

This exciting, all-inclusive 360° VR adventure will take you on an underwater journey of the Great Southern Reef. Hosted by marine experts and the University of South Australia, this event offers a rare opportunity to dive into the vibrant and mysterious world of South Australia’s marine giants, from the comfort of a warm, dry room!
