Time 1 hour and 40 minutes
Serves 8
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp basil, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 500g beef mince
- 690g Romanella Sugo
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 375g La Tosca Fresh Lasagne Sheets
- 125g parmesan cheese, grated
Cheese sauce
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp plain flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 125g mozzarella
Method
- Preheat oven to 180oC.
- To make the meat sauce, heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft. Add beef mince and continue cooking until brown.
- Stir in sugo and basil, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- To make the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a separate saucepan. Stir in flour and cook for 2–3 minutes over gentle heat.
- Remove from heat and gradually stir in the milk. Return to low heat and continue to stir until sauce is thick and smooth. Remove from heat and season with salt, pepper and add mozzarella.
- To assemble the lasagne, pour 1⁄2 cup of the meat sauce into a lightly greased baking dish and spread to cover base. Alternate layers of lasagne sheets, meat and cheese sauce, ending with a cheese sauce layer.
- Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and bake for 30–40 minutes or until cooked through.
- Allow lasagne to stand for 5–10 minutes before serving.
