We first discovered Leah Grant on Instagram and were instantly blown away by her bright, bold artwork. As it turns out, she’s as bold and as bright as her paintings. Leah’s a visual artist, who creates layered, vibrant colours with various mediums. Her paintings will make your heart smile. We should ALL have a Leah Grant (or two) in our lounge rooms.
If Leah’s paintings were a song, they’d be R.E.M’s Shiny Happy People. Because that’s how they make us feel — shiny and happy! Today, she’s our Inspirational Adelady and these are her favourite places in Adelaide:

1. FAVE PLACE FOR BREAKFAST
Depends if it’s a Saturday or Sunday for me. I love starting off a weekend by walking into the city and getting a juice from Tony’s Juice Bar and a bagel from Market Bread Bar. On a Sunday, I love going to the Corner Store, Local Crowd or Tincat Café.

2. FAVE PLACE TO BUY ART TOOLS
Cold Krush has the best quality and range of spray paint. Plus, they have such genuine, friendly, solid advice. You can tell they not only sell the products, but they’re really passionate about the Adelaide art scene. There are so many other great art stores around Adelaide and I think I’m a regular at most! The lovely staff at Eckersleys and Art to Art know my face very well too.
3. FAVE HAIRDRESSER
Emmy from Joint Hair Salon. As soon as I discovered this industrial-style salon, I knew I would come back. From the décor, colour scheme and a gorgeous team, this place oozes trendy! Plus, to top it off, while I relax and let someone else tame my wild, naturally-wavy, ridiculously thick hair, they give me a glass of red to sip — bliss!

4. FAVE PLACE FOR A COFFEE
I love coffee — the taste and even more, the smell. However, caffeine and I don’t mix well, so my perfect cup is a decaf mocha (because chocolate makes everything better). Tell Henry and La Madeline are my two top spots for damn good coffee, hot chocolate and tea!
5. FAVE PLACE FOR A DATE NIGHT
An arthouse movie (that makes me think, but doesn’t make me sad for a week) at Nova Cinema followed by EVERY tapas on the Street ADL menu. Craving their vegetable pakora now – delish!
