Yes, Christmas is lovely but can be a very busy and stressful time of year. At emkho HQ we devised a way for you to cross a few things off your list AND be a Hostess With The Mostest – A Christmas wrap up party!

A Christmas wrap up party is an excellent way to catch up with a group of friends or family in the name of Christmas as well as crossing off one of your big Christmas jobs! You can plan it as a “pot luck” style event where everyone brings along something for wrapping the gifts – paper, decorations, ribbons etc.

We suggest holding your party for a couple of hours either in the mid-morning, mid-afternoon or even just after work. Hosting in those timeframes will reduce the workload for yourself. You won’t need to worry about serving meals and drinks, just a light snack (and perhaps a few bottles of bubbles!). You could even create a special Christmas drink as an easy treat.

What you will need ::

1. A nice big table is ideal – big enough to allow everyone to sit around and spread out their wrapping paper.

2. Enough chairs for everyone.

3. Scissors and sticky tape. You can also ask your guests to bring their own too.

4. Wrapping paper. It’s not a bad idea to grab a few rolls of plain, brown kraft paper too – it’s a low cost option and goes with most decorative touches so is easy to match with what your guests bring along.

5. Decorations for your gift wrapping. Ribbons, string, coloured washi tape, buttons, tassels, inexpensive Christmas tree decorations, stickers… be creative with your ideas!

6. Something to eat. You can be a crazy Stepford Wife clever and bake some Christmas shaped cookies or a cake… or you can be lazy like the rest of us and buy some nice biscuits or sweet little cakes from your local bakery.

7. DRANKSSS!!! I mean, you will need to organise some drinks for your guests. Some nice bubbles and a non-alcoholic option should be fine or you could make an iced or hot chocolate drink if you want to be a bit clever (alcoholic or non-alcoholic. We’re not here to judge).

A great idea is to hold your wrap up party early in Decemeber. Everyone is more likely to have spare time AND it’s a great way to ensure you get your Christmas shopping done early. You can avoid the crazy crowds too since 99.9% of the population do their gift shopping in the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas. Every. Year. When will we ever learn, people?!
