I have spent the last two years networking and getting to know some pretty phenomenal women in Adelaide.

I have watched single mums open businesses, young women take the leap and become self-employed, other women seek a promotion, and women who are actively pursuing their dreams and passions. And it makes me SO happy.

You hear about tall poppy syndrome, and many of you know it is a real thing… You may have even been on the receiving end of it… ouch. And sadly there will be those chicks who cannot stand seeing another sister stand tall.

But I wanted to take a positive spin and share with you what I have learned, as I reflect on the things I have seen:

When women work together and support each other – magic happens. We realise we aren’t alone. Advice is offered, in a genuine ‘I’ve got you’ kind of way. Support is carefully built, and becomes a foundation block, laying right next to loyalty and integrity.

Great ideas get bounced around and weave into an outstanding idea, maybe even a business opportunity or a new venture!

Friendships are carved; solutions are found; judgement is left behind; and (most importantly) facades are dropped.

Empathy and kindness blossoms. Jealousy and comparison vanish.

Sometimes your greatest celebrations are the ones you have on your own, that quiet moment where you smile for no reason, the internal comfort of knowing where you are is where you are meant to be… And those moments can be made better when you have a supportive sisterhood to high-five along the way!

So, Adeladys, please be kind to each other, work together, build each other up and keep the sister hood strong.

We are better together.
