Featuring stylish, classic and affordable furniture, Black Mango had me at hello! Literally, it popped up on my Facebook feed and with one click, I was hooked.
A South Australian online furniture and homewares shop, Black Mango is the creation of husband and wife duo, Daniel Wright and Kylie Porter-Wright.
With over thirty years’ retail experience here in Adelaide, the pair behind the brand know furniture. “Daniel has always had an eye for beautiful and timeless pieces. I mean, I just get what I like personally but he has a sixth sense and knows what’s in and what people want in their homes,” Kylie says about her husband.
Welcoming things like stylish sofas, designer ottomans, modern table lamps, side tables, rocking chairs, benches, and gorgeous bedheads to your home, Black Mango is all about the family. “That’s why we started the business five years ago. We wanted to do something together that was versatile and gave us the scope to spend time with our children,” says Daniel.
Being online, you might assume they’re a massive corporation but Black Mango has a very small team of legends working for them in their SA showroom — yes, we’re lucky ducks here in SA because their showroom is just 10 minutes out of the city in Clovelly Park. This means you can see and get all handsie with their furniture or purchase online from home and get it delivered to your door super fast.
My hot tip: bring your partner or bestie — for me, all it took was one trip to their showroom and my husband Jimmy had made himself right at home on the Cloud Sofa. “We like people to feel like they can reach out and come and see the pieces for themselves. Definitely call us, definitely email us. We’re always available. Ask for fabric swatches, ask as many questions as you like,” insists Kylie.
That’s exactly what I did. I started off with a single vintage pink Dew Drop Glass Table Lamp, this was then followed by a Moroccan Leather Ottoman; a couple of emails later and I had Arlo Side Tables and two of the most comfortable Cloud Sofas sitting proudly in my TV room.
