Just one hour from Adelaide, in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, we found ourselves driving through some of the most stunning scenery heading into in Inman Valley. It’s some seriously awe-inspiring South Australian landscape — AND, it’s home to new off-grid luxury accommodation: ESCA at Nest & Nature.

We had already been sent an email with all the information we needed for our stay at Nest, including a key code for contactless check-in, so upon arrival we let ourselves in. As we entered our suite, the automated blinds lifted to reveal the plunging valley and rolling hills as far as the eye can see, with the floor to ceiling windows of our suite framing the view perfectly. It’s heavenly. Other-worldly.
The design and materials of Nest are high-spec and the suite feels generous, with a clever floor-plan to maximise space. The suite is self-contained and luxuriously appointed with a kitchen, fireplace, king bed and bathroom with a freestanding egg-shaped bath. Outside, there is an alfresco barbecue and seating area, a fire pit and a sunken bath – the perfect spot for a glass of bubbles with a view.

The suites are completely off-grid using solar power and batteries, rainwater collection and an underground septic tank. Everything is thoughtfully designed and delivers luxury that is hard to find in other off-grid rural accomodation.
It didn’t take us long to settle in to ESCA, as we slipped on our cosy robes, lit the fire and took advantage of the complimentary appetisers and drinks – mostly local produce and all delicious. We felt like we were immediately in relax mode. This is the perfect place for a truly indulgent escape with your loved one, or to celebrate a special occasion. It’s intimate, romantic and oh so peaceful!

The block-out blinds, quiet location and comfortable pillow-top bed allowed for a truly restful sleep, and waking up to that view again was an unforgettable experience. A troop of cute kangaroos even came to say good morning!
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel all over the world and stay in some of the best properties on offer, but ESCA at Nest & Nature is now high on my favourites list.
