Internationally renowned and locally treasured master bark painter John Mawurndjul is the subject of this major exhibition. Bringing forth a tradition shared by generations of Kuninjku artists, Mawurndjul is celebrated for his mastery of rarrk (cross-hatching) and his depiction of djang (sacred sites). Bark paintings and sculptures made over a 35-year period, from private and public collections, as well as new work, will introduce audiences to ancestral locations deep within Central Arnhem Land.
