There’s a world of outdoor action only 10 minutes up the South Eastern Freeway in the Adelaide Hills. And it’s not just for junior adventurers…
A trip to Woodhouse is a rite of passage for any South Australian child. Most have been to this Scouts SA property specialising in group accommodation at least once on school excursions and camps, or through scouting. Some of the more adventurous spirits might’ve returned for birthday parties or camping trips with their own families.
While it remains a highlight of many school calendars each year, our ever- increasing reliance on computers means we all need a good tech detox and Woodhouse is the answer for adults, too!
Us “big kids” can climb, crawl, swing and splash through more than 30 obstacles on Challenge Hill, tackle a giant split-level maze and rocket down two enormous tube slides over 100 metres of synthetic slope while wrapped in the safety of a giant rubber ring (weekends and most public holidays). There’s also bouldering, orienteering, campfires (seasonal) and even nine holes of disc golf.

School holidays
UNPLUGGED is a fully supervised day camp program to keep kids aged five to twelve active and entertained. Rain, hail or shine, they’ll head home the best kind of tired. “We have something for every kind of kid… from creative through to adrenaline seeking,” says Emily Cordell from Scouts SA Camps and Adventure Parks.

Family accommodation
There’s glamping… then there’s glamping Woodhouse style, where it’s all about affordable fun for the whole family. Woodhouse’s bell tents and chalets are perfect for those who love the idea of camping but don’t have all the gear. And you’ll have easy access to so many amazing places to eat in and around Stirling, Crafers, Aldgate and Uraidla.
