Dummmmmplings and red wine — it’s actually what dreams are made of! Steamed, pan fried, Chinese, Japanese, Cantonese… we’ll take all of them, thanks.

And with this cooler weather here for a little longer, a dumpling adventure is the perfect way to warm up. It’s a tough gig, but we’ve done a little research and found some truly excellent places to fill your belly with happiness all over town.

Our only issue is when to stop… or maybe we’ll just order ONE more plate… eek!

Here goes… happy dumpling hunting!

1. Dumpling King | Chinatown, 18 Moonta Street, Adelaide

Located smack bang in the recently renovated heart of Chinatown, you can’t go past the laid back vibe of dumplings fit for royalty. Perfect for introducing the kids to a dumpling feast and excellent value for money.

2. Singapore House |203 Glen Osmond Road

Choose between the Crab and Wombok, or the Steamed Prawn and Chive Dumplings on the Street Food menu at Singapore House for a ridiculously-good taste sensation. They’re made from scratch, so you know they’re good.

The Sago peanut dumplings in coconut cream are. to. die. for! You’ll be licking the plate clean.

4. Fine & Fettle | Unit 4, 57 Magill Road, Stepney

Fettle’s fried dumplings in spiced black vinegar do a little dance on your tongue any day of the week, but keep your eyes peeled for their Dollar Dumplings nights… could easily eat your whole body weight in this little parcels of delight.

You really can’t go wrong with anything from the menu at this Adelaide institution, but the Pork Dumplings definitely get our vote for deliciousness.

6. Concubine | 132 Gouger Street, Adelaide

If you ever needed proof as to why this restaurant has won bucket loads of awards, just take a bite into one of their Steamed Prawn & Chive dumplings with soy and chilli oil… right there is your answer.

An incredible choice for share plates or yum cha, you won’t regret grabbing a plate or two of the steamed prawn dumplings encased in a smooth pastry at The Empress.

7. Hotel Longtime | 110 Grote Street, Adelaide

For a twist on the regular dumpling, try Hotel Longtime’s Steamed Trout Dumplings, served with a mouth-watering Karachai Curry Sauce. O.M.Goodness. Or, of course, their Prawn and Chicken Dumplings are always a winner.

9. Pho 9 | 383 Magill Road, St Morris

Number nine on our list is a no-brainer. The handmade fried wontons with pork and prawn at this low-key cafe are served with sweet chillis for an uplifting kick… yummo!

10. Gyoza Gyoza | 95–97 Gouger Street, Adelaide

Pan fried, steamed and even soups filled with Gyozas, you’re covered for delicious Japanese Gyozas here. You can even take the reigns with your own dipping sauce — mixing the perfect ratio of minced garlic, crushed sesame seeds and chilli oil.
