Are you feeling a little bit ‘meh’ as you grind through the second half of winter? Are you living vicariously through the people lucky enough to be on overseas summer holidays, who are (unintentionally) SLAPPING you right in the face with their warm, sunny, beach pics and carefree holiday vibes? I understand, I really do!

But you know, you really don’t have to travel far to feel like you’ve had a little break. Of course it will never compare to an overseas holiday, but a staycation is a hasslefree way to clock off from the rat race and experience your own city from a whole new perspective.

There’s something so refreshing about checking into a hotel, walking into a pristine room and sliding into those crisp white sheets. No housework staring you in the face, no unsightly kids’ toys scattered across the floor and the only food options available are things that you HAVEN’T had to prepare yourself. Sign me up!

There’s so many good reasons to book yourself into one of Adelaide’s incredible city hotels. A romantic getaway, a mother/daughter or father/son bonding staycation, or my favourite, (no offence husband), a girls-only weekend away. Replace housework, cooking and ‘Muuuuuuuuuuuum!’ with robes, champagne and girl talk. Ahhhh — bucket FULL!

We’ve got some cracking hotels here in Adelaide ranging from the brand-spanking-new, to the renovated OG’s. Here’s a list of our current favourites.

The Playford Hotel

Starting off with a bang with this stunning, newly renovated hotel. This one’s close to my heart as I was married in their ballroom many moons ago and have been an overnight guest a number of times over the years for various special occasions. These occasions have ranged from my own wedding night, a much needed ‘mum-cation’ and even a cute little night away with my daughter for her birthday. The buffet breakfast here is the best I’ve ever had, the rooms are pure elegance and the service is impeccable. The cocktails at the spectacular Luma Restaurant + Bar are also an absolute must! The attention to detail at The Playford Hotel is second to none and it’s no wonder it’s Adelaide’s most awarded and iconic luxury boutique hotel.

Eos by SkyCity

A stay at Eos will have you wanting to go home and redecorate your house with grey tones, gold hardware and curved lines (or let’s face it, not wanting to go home at all). Boy, they’ve done a great job with this spectacular new hotel. A staycation at Eos feels undeniably opulent, and to be honest, when I stayed the night with two girlfriends, our room was so incredible that we put on our robes and didn’t actually leave. Not even for dinner! If you’re a little less granny-esque than my raging friends and I, there’s an abundance of bars and restaurants to choose from amongst the SkyCity precinct. Really want to be pampered? Book yourself into Eos Spa + Wellness and let the therapists melt away your stress!

Oval Hotel Adelaide

This new and uniquely situated hotel stands proudly on the doorstep of the iconic Adelaide Oval making it conveniently placed within minutes of the vibrant city centre, whilst still offering tranquil views of Adelaide’s heritage listed parklands. Due to its location, a number of football related packages are available to book such as a ‘VIP Footy Experience’, a ‘Stay, Climb and Dine’ experience and a ‘Stadium Secrets’ experience. What a bougie way to make a weekend out of a footy game!

Crowne Plaza Adelaide

Who wants to stay the night in Adelaide’s tallest building? ME! Conveniently located in Adelaide’s East End, Crowne Plaza offers bird’s-eye views of the city and beyond. With so much to discover within walking distance, the city will truly be your oyster. Alternatively, choose to stay in and take advantage of all the amenities the Crowne has to offer, such as the fully equipped gym, the heated outdoor infinity pool, the impressive cocktail list at Luna10 and the mouthwatering cuisine at their inhouse restaurant Koomo.

I love the distinctive vibe of this hotel. They’ve managed to layer an eclectic mix of textures, shapes and colours to create a unique boutique venue which gives off warm, inviting energy. Guests have access to 24 hour room service, two food and dining venues, 24 hour gym facilities and an outdoor pool with a view. Located a stone’s throw away from Adelaide’s Chinatown district and Adelaide Central Markets, you will certainly not be shy of choice when it comes to dining options!

HotelMOTEL Adelaide

HotelMOTEL is a hotel, within a motel — tough on the outside but sweet on the inside! At HotelMOTEL, hotel luxury meets motel affordability, all whilst being conveniently located in the heart of the Adelaide CBD. The 24 hour reception at HotelMOTEL means you can arrive in your own time, yet still have all the modern perks that a hotel has to offer such as in-room dining and a coffee pod machine. They even have a family room offering a king bed for the adults and a bunk bed for the kids. What a great way to have a budget friendly staycation in the city!

Vibe Hotel

Located in Adelaide’s vibrant East End, the Vibe Hotel leaves you spoiled for choice when it comes to the boutique restaurants, iconic pubs and trendy cocktail bars at your fingertips. The decor is contemporary and inspired by nature, and floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to gaze beyond the buzzing city life towards the rolling Adelaide Hills. Relax and unwind with a dip in the suspended heated pool or hit the gym and work up an appetite for dinner at their in-house restaurant, Storehouse Flinders East.

Pullman Adelaide

The Pullman is so centrally located in the heart of Adelaide that you won’t know what to do first! Standing proudly in Hindmarsh Square, you’ll have endless possibilities at your doorstep. I’ll help by mapping out your itinerary for you… enjoy a spot of shopping on Rundle Street, followed by a pre-dinner drink in the East End. Stroll into one of Adelaide’s award-winning restaurants for a mouth watering meal and roll back to the hotel, full and content for a nice warm shower. Slip on your robe and slippers and pass out watching trash on TV. Sold? I certainly am!

TRYP by Wyndham

This stunningly modern hotel certainly makes an impression with its upbeat culture and eye-catching design. The rooms are modern and sleek yet soothing and comfortable, with all the amenities you’d ever hope for. TRYP’s own restaurant, Z Kitchen, will welcome you into its urban ‘Radelaide’ inspired space, or if you’d prefer to stay in, can alternatively provide you with room service. You can also enjoy a bevy at Z Bar and admire the view of a bustling Pultney Street from its spacious balcony.

The Hotel Grand Chancellor is nestled amongst the vibrant Leigh, Peel and Gilbert Laneways in the heart of the city. Hello to all my favourite bars and restaurants within walking distance — woohoo! This hotel offers modern, refurbished rooms, buffet breakfast, a restaurant and bar, a fitness centre, plus an outdoor heated swimming pool, spa and sauna! What more could you ask for?
