Dad, Daddy, Daddio, Papa Bear, the Old Man… whatever they answer to, EVERY Dad needs to be celebrated BIG time this Father’s Day!

We don’t want to alarm you, but this coming Sunday 1 September is D-Day. Restaurants, cafes and parks all over SA will all be teeming with good-times, but we’ve got the ball rolling on a few out-of-the-box ideas on how to spoil the main men in your life…

1. For the Dad who loves a putt

Grab the competitive Dads and get them putting up a storm at Holey Moley Golf Club for some next level mini golf fun! There’s plenty on offer for little kids, medium sized ones and the biggest kids (who generally take it the most seriously)! Game on.

2. For the animal enthusiast Dad

Let the Papa Bears get up close and personal with some furry friends at Cleland Wildlife Park, Adelaide or Monarto Zoos, who all have free entry for Dads on Father’s Day. It’s the perfect day out for the whole fam to celebrate your king of the jungle.

3. For the BBQ, beer and beat loving Dad

Bring the team and sink into some delicious cold beers, cider and a tasty selection of BBQ specials on the picturesque grounds of Glen Ewin Estate while listening to some sweet beats at BBQ, Beers and Beats on Sunday.

4. For the Dad who enjoys a stiff drink

Give your old man the afternoon of his dreams with the Father’s Day Whiskey Blending Session with the A-grade crew from NOLA.

5. For the Dad who’s a big kid

The Royal Adelaide Show has literally got something for every kind of guy and his brood… sheep shearing, wood chopping, pig racing, rides, entertainment, carnival food, fancy food and more! There’s no doubt that Father’s Day at The Show will be a good time for the whole crew.

6. For the Dad who likes a quick coastal escape

Throw the team in the car and have a quick escape down south with a day on the Fleurieu Peninsula.  Take in any of the picturesque beaches, let Dad hit the surf, take in a guided penguin tour at Granite Island, or grab a bite to eat at any of the laid back pubs or restaurants along the main street or nearby Port Elliot. Bliss for the whole fam!

7. For the movie-buff Dad

Kick back and enjoy a good flick with your Dad, in top-notch style. Event Cinemas have special screenings this Father’s Day including Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band From Texas, and the jewel in the crown… Top Gun! Marion even has Gold Class so grab your bucket of popcorn and enjoy.

It’s hard to know what to give to the special guy in your life, but if you’re after something a little left of a good old pair of socks or a new tie, here’s a few gift ideas to get you going…

8. For the Dad who loves to mark his territory

Emboss his initials on gorgeous leather wallets, phone cases, toiletry bags, suit bags, laptop bags and more with The Daily Edited’s gifts. Pop in store to have an on-the-spot monogram or order online today… even better, they do express postage for the last minute rush! Phew.

9. For the adventurous Dad

Inspire your Dad, FIL or hubby to get out and explore the great outdoors with a BIG4 gift voucher. Valid for 36 months, he can plan the perfect adventure at any of the BIG4 parks across Australia and create memories that will last well after Father’s Day has passed.

10. For the spirit loving Dad

If your old man is a fan of gins and whiskeys, fresh seafood and premium dry aged steak, a ticket to the inaugural 23rd St Distillers Dinner at The Feathers Hotel on Thursday 5 September will do the trick! Over a six course masterpiece, he’ll be led through this spirit-pairing feast by the Head Distiller from 23rd St Distillery for an experience he won’t forget in a hurry.

11. For the sports nut Dad

There’s so much to experience at Adelaide Oval even after the local AFL season has come to a close. Book Dad in for a stadium tour for an entertaining run through of the characters who have walked the halls, let him take in the iconic Bradman Collection on display, embrace a hair raising roof climb, or even nab a ticket for him to tee off at the bespoke stadium golf course in October.

12. For the toe-tapping Dad

Billy Elliot The Musical is coming to Adelaide in December and even for the theatre-shy-guys it’s guaranteed to entertain! Grab tix for a feel-good Father’s Day pressie that’s sure to wow.

13. For the Dad who likes to cook up a storm

Whether he’s a novice wanting to experiment or a bit of a kitchen-wizz, a cooking class at Sticky Rice Cooking School is a great gift for the Dad who enjoys whipping up a tasty dish. There’s oodles of different cuisines on offer so grab a voucher to let him decide or just book him in for a tasty surprise. Deliciouso!

14. For the Dad with a sweet tooth

If you’ve left your run a little late — and let’s be honest, we’ve all been guilty of it — you can’t go past grabbing some sweet treats from the home of Australia’s most awarded hand made choccies, Bracegirdles. We voluntarily taste-test their products regularly and can guarantee that they’ll hit the nail on the head for the sweetest man in your life this F-Day.

However you decide to spend it, or what you choose to give, make sure you wrap that special guy (or guys) up in an enormous love bubble, because Dads truly rock!
