I’m fresh off the boat after a few days in this island paradise, so while I’m still buzzing with SO much love and excitement… here’s what you can expect.
The People
Club Med started with a hippy kind of vibe, bringing people together and although the offerings have become more luxe, the heart and soul of the resorts remain the same. Their motto is “No Worries”, and they 100 percent stand by it. From the moment we were greeted by their friendly staff — cheering and clapping us off the boat — they took our bags, escorted us to our villas and we seriously wiped our hands of any stress. It’s always Hakuna Matata on Kani. There are over 27 nationalities working in the resort, and all of them speak two or more languages. So now we’re fluent in French, German and Chinese. Just saying…
The Fun
This opulent, fun-filled party resort has a smorgasbord of fun activities on offer to keep active honeymooners busy and excitable families entertained.

Here goes…
As part of your all inclusive stay, do what we did… whack on a snorkel and swim with schools of tropical fish — DO THIS, it’s incredible! — try your hand at sailing, kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. You can jump in the pool for some aqua aerobics, sweat it up at sunset yoga, or like us, find yourself dancing to LMFAO in a giant foam party — anything goes on Kani! And with a two-kilometre stretch of private beach, it’s an Instagram-lover’s dream!
For kids… well, I left mine at home — but Club Med Kani is a wonderland for children. With non-stop beach activities on offer and of course a Kids’ Club, they’ll be in their element! Oh, and by the way, Kids’ Club is also part of your all-inclusive stay. I’ll bring them next time.
The Food
Buffet galore! But, not your usual buffet — it’s bigger and better! Every day is different, and you’ll find all kinds of fresh worldly cuisines on offer for brekky, lunch and dinner.
When one restaurant closes another opens, so you’ll never go hungry. In fact, I’d suggest bringing stretchy pairs of shorts, because you may leave with a little excess baggage… if you know what I mean?!
While we’re on clothing attire, I think I wore undies once over five days, the rest of the time we were strutting around in bathers, pretending to be Beyonce.
For adults, the Sunset Bar is like something from a movie — gorgeous beach views, friendly people and endless cocktails, all included as part of your stay! They even put on canapes throughout the day so we snacked and grazed like cows… whenever we wanted!
The Accommodation
Welcome to your room! As part of the Adelady deal you stay in one of these single storey Garden Rooms. Step outside your front door and within a few seconds you’re on the beachfront, dipping your toes in the gorgeous warm Indian Ocean.
If you want to upgrade, you can! We stayed in the Overwater Villas. They’re spacious, airy and come with a gigantic bed facing the ocean, a stunning bath overlooking the bright blue water, your own personal deck with direct ocean access, and a lounge room… for you know, lounging! From the second we woke up, we couldn’t put our cameras down — everywhere we looked was picture perfect.
In all honesty though, outside your rooms everyone at Club Med Kani is treated to the exact same all-inclusive experience. So whether you’re in a Garden Room or an Overwater Villa, as soon as you walk out your front door, the experience is just as wonderful for everyone. I mean, how fun is an overwater swing?
How to get there
The fabulous Singapore Airlines will whisk you away from Adelaide to the Maldives with some mind-boggling deals. If you stop-over in Singapore, you may be eligible for the Changi Transit Privileges where you collect a SGD$20 voucher per person each from the iShopChangi Collection Centres in Terminal 2 or 3. You just need to show your boarding passes, tickets and passports. And do what we did and play a game of who can buy the best thing with their voucher. I put mine towards a Gucci perfume! So, it turns out that the Maldives are not just for the rich and famous — because we are neither. Although, it’s hard not to feel like you’re some sort of queen at Club Med Kani when you’re ordering almost everything and anything you want from the all-inclusive restaurants and Sunset Bar.
