Turns out some of the most striking bespoke jewellery pieces are coming out of a studio on High Street in Burnside. For the last 50 years, DDS has been making dreams come true with beautiful rings created especially for each person who walks through their door. This team of eight has decades of experience behind them.
A manufacturing and design studio filled with diamond rings is my version of heaven, and DDS certainly delivers. With over 200 sample designs for women, and almost 200 sample designs for men, the choices are endless. And the best part? The talented manufacturers will tweak their designs as much as needed until they match the vision in your head, or if you’re set on a specific idea, they’ll bring your creation to life.
“Our designs are guided entirely by the customer — we’re here to make sure you end up with a piece that you love. The best information you can give us is a design idea and a budget, and from there, we’ll make sure to find your perfect match,” says owner Richard.
Speaking of budget, there’s no need to step outside your comfort zone or sell your firstborn for the perfect piece. “We’re proud to create quality handmade jewellery, working the gold and platinum to perfection. But if you don’t want to eat up your budget with the handmaking process, we have other options so you can spend more on the stone instead.”
You can expect a different experience at DDS, too. “As we’re a manufacturing studio instead of a shopfront, the experience is much more personal. Our studio is appointment only, so you’re guaranteed our undivided attention; and you don’t walk in and say, ‘I quite like that one,’ and then that’s it. We make sure that you adore the final result!” says Richard.

As Richard says, it’s a collaborative process. “We come up with ideas and then move the stones around until you’re completely happy. Often, our clients love the very first idea we present, and if not, we’ll work with them to get it right.”
