Let’s talk old medicine for new women…

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can appear as the unknown, maybe even a little weird – we’ve all seen that HBA private health advert with the ‘fish slapping therapy, right? That’s why I’ve made it my personal mission to tear down the walls that divide Eastern and Western medicine, and share why I think TCM is so fabulous for the modern women. In our fast-paced world, we often forget to stop and breathe and our health goes on the back burner.

Diet (tsk-tsk to that word) goes out the window; sleep and exercise are often optional. Not to mention harsh environmental factors like pollution, water contamination and medications such as The Pill and overuse of antibiotics. Toxins build up, body’s breaks down, stress mounts and suddenly you’re a raging hormonal mess. Let’s be honest, we have all been there. The good news is you have options and Chinese Medicine is one of them, helping women feel like women in many ways, naturally!

1. Hormone Balancing

Think Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome (PCOS), PMT, acne, Endometriosis, period pain (such a beast!) irregular periods or even no periods at all. These are largely due to hormonal imbalances and unfortunately there is not a lot of Western medical treatment available except The Pill, a band-aid of convenience that can reduce symptoms but doesn’t treat the cause of the problem. Combining regular acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and nutritional and dietary advice with lifestyle coaching, TCM can bring your body’s rhythm back in line by treating the root of the imbalance.

2. Relaxation + Meditation

We wonder women balancing the weight of the world on our shoulders need to take time out! Take 5. Or 30! Just one ½ hour treatment can re-set you, giving you time to focus on your breathing and reconnect mind and body. It can make the world of difference by giving you a big dose of zen.

3. Stress relieving + Energy Boosting

Acupuncture and herbs can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, increase energy and improve sleep so you can function better in your day-to-day life. Research now shows that acupuncture activates areas of the brain to release feel-good hormones. Happy hormones make you healthier!

4.Family Planning – Natural fertility + IVF support

If you’re thinking its time to start a family, TCM can assist in getting your body baby ready. If there are troubles conceiving, we can help to regulate periods, support ovulation and improve egg quality so you can fall pregnant naturally. Clinical trials have shown that Acupuncture can also increase the chances of IVF success by up to 50% if you are going down the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) path.

5. Pregnancy Support

Acupuncture is a great way to keep your ever-changing body in check and supported throughout pregnancy. It eases morning sickness, relieves aches and pain, calms anxiety and even helps turn breached bubs. Pre-labour birth preparation gets you ready for birth by helping to ripen the cervix and reduce labour pain and stress. If you are over your due date, natural labour induction with acupuncture can be an option too.

With its rich history and holistic approach, TCM is quickly becoming the go-to for women’s health. It is gentle, safe, effective and personalised for you as an individual so you can enjoy life more.
