When was the last time you wandered down the Marina Pier at Holdfast Shores for a bite to eat and a wet of the old whistle? If it’s been a while, allow us to help you re-discover and fall in love with it all over again. Because a lot has changed!

For the newbies, Marina Pier’s front yard is a view of million dollar boats, alfresco dining, with friendly dolphins swimming past. And the backyard is just as nice, opening out to stunning Glenelg Beach! I mean, how lucky are we to be so spoilt!

Along the strip are bars, restaurants, cafes and fashion shops so depending on what you feel like, there’s a cuisine for every kind of Adelady!

We took one for the team and ventured on our own little food walking tour of the Marina Pier. Here’s our itinerary so feel free to steal it!

And for the record, yes we ate EVERYTHING!

1. Tomiko Japanese Steak House

Tepinyake at it’s finest. The head chefs are all trained in Japanese cuisine and yes they all do tricks on the hot plate right in front of you. Hello FIRE! If you’re after dinner and a show this is a must!

And it’s not all about the entertainment — the food and service is next-level amazing! From delicious and fresh sushi and sashimi to seared salmon or pan FIRED steak, you’ll be in tastebud heaven! Oh and they even do a mean oyster!

2. Sammy’s on The Marina

An Adelaide institution, Sammy’s is a place to take someone if you really want to impress. The views, the freshly caught seafood, the atmosphere — it’s all extravagant! We dived head first into the KI crayfish and Boston Bay oysters and scallops. YUM! Sammy’s is also perfect for special occasions like birthdays, Hen’s dinners, or engagement parties!

3. Oyster Bar

Everybody loves the Oyster Bar — even if you don’t like oysters! For as long as I remember, the Oyster Bay has always been pumping and always will be. Why? Because the food and drinks menu is delish! Seafood platters, grazing plates, and of course oysters any way you like them! Nothing beats a platter with a view like this!

4. Dragon Dumpling House

Bring your entire family, friends, kids and basically anyone you just met because this place is all about food and family! Big tables, big Lazy Susans and big sharing serves, it’s made to bring people together. With a menu that lists all my favourite Asian cuisines, I warn you, you’ll want one of everything!

5. Boards on The Pier

A cafe slash fashion shop slash bar slash live music venue slash water sports haven, Boards On The Pier is our new favourite hang! The clothes and jewellery scream Adelady, I mean look at those bathers! But let’s not get swept away with fashion, the cafe is a great spot to kick back with a cheeky cocktail or two.

And for those more adventurous souls, try your hand at paddle-boarding! We did with the one and only TONY MODRA! Book a session online or just go in the shop and enquire.

There’s our 5 picks. But there is SO much more — we just couldn’t fit any more in our bellies!
