Whether you’re after a good feed, some retail therapy, or a beauty refresh, Jetty Road is guaranteed to tick every box. It’s ever evolving, but never strays too far from its roots — and it’s one of our favourite strips in this pretty city we call home.
Each visit to Jetty Road is like a mini game of spot-the-difference, as the street continues to improve and upgrade. Three of our fave retailers — Fawkes & Co, Attitudes Boutique, and Adelaide Instyle — have recently undergone their own transformations, which obviously we had to check out STRAIGHT AWAY.
Let us tell you a little bit about what you might have missed over the last couple of weeks…
Fawkes & Co.
This bubbly salon hasn’t travelled far — in fact, you’ll find them right next door to their old digs, at 69 Jetty Road. This bright and airy space is a reflection of owner Tess, who has truly thought of everything. The new space feels chic and a little bit luxe, with pink tiling, wooden detailing, and brown leather chairs at the wash basins that you just want to sink right into.
Even the processing station has been created with the customer in mind, with Tess removing all mirrors from this area — because honestly, who wants to sit and stare at themselves while wrapped in foil, right?!
Behind the scissors and the makeup brushes are all the same friendly faces that you know and love, and the products lining the shelves represent everything that Tess is trying to achieve at Fawkes & Co.
“We’re a sustainable salon, which means 98% of everything we use is recycled — just about the only thing we can’t recycle is some of our food scraps! The products that we have on offer match that vibe, as they’re all Australian owned, PETA approved, ethical and vegan products”.
Attitudes
On previous trips to Jetty Road, you might have seen us darting across the road between Lightbox Gift and Home and Attitudes Boutique. Not any more! These two wonderlands have joined forces, creating one beautiful store filled with all of our favourite things.
But how do two whole stores now fit into one, you ask? Owner, Gilia, has taken the best of both worlds and brought them together so that now Attitudes (in the old Lightbox Gift and Home store) only stocks the best of the best. You’ll find homewares such as stunning prints, potted plants, locally made Rhicreative cards, Etikette Candles, sitting right next to the much-loved fashion brands like Holiday, Brave & True, and Dr Denim.
One of our top picks from Attitudes this time around was definitely the Little Glass Jars that you’ll find at the counter. Created by one of the Attitudes employees, this SA business is looking to brighten up your day — one little glass jar at a time.
Adelaide Instyle
Many of you are probably thinking, “who is that familiar face?”.
It’s Sophia, the driving force behind Jetty Road’s iconic Montago before selling a few years back. This fashion guru is back with her pop-up store, Adelaide Instyle — though a little birdie told us that the pop-up might turn permanent, so watch this space.
Sophia’s motto is, “You can look fabulous without the big designer prices,” and she’s absolutely nailed it. Looking at the stunning evening gowns and boutique-style clothing hanging from the racks, it’s hard to believe that the prices are so affordable without compromising on quality.
“I love making people feel good about themselves,” Sophia says. Whether you’re dressing for a formal, wedding, special birthday, the races, or a garden party that you just want to WOW at, make Adelaide Instyle your go-to destination. Trust us, you won’t be walking out of Sophia’s store empty handed.
With so much going on along Jetty Road, there’s never been a better time to head down to visit your faves. And you can feel all warm and fuzzy in doing so, because you know you’re supporting local. It’s a win-win situation!
