Hello, my name is Amanda and I am an Abbots addict! I’ve only recently realised I’ve never reviewed Abbots and Kinney (A&K), conveniently located near my work in the Adelaide CBD and thought it was time to share my addiction with the world.

And it appears I’m not on my own —  A&K has just won “Best new restaurant or Cafe” in the 2016 City Awards.

I’m not going to go into too much detail but I do have lots of mouth-watering photos to share with you due to the many visits I’ve made since it’s opening in 2015.

A&K updates the breakfast and lunch menu monthly which is another reason I’m lured in so often. As well as those tantalising social media posts of freshly baked doughnuts they conveniently publish just as I’m reaching for my healthy piece of fruit… but I’m sure a creme brulee doughnut smothered in toffee contains the same amount of nutrition levels, right?!

A&K are also running a weekly free lunch and coffee promotion which you are entered into when you sign up for their mailing list. Each week I eagerly await the ‘Lunch on Us’ email like an addict waiting for their next fix… surely one day my dreams will come true!

Below are my A&K highlights… or rather my confessional in photo form:

Danwich fillings change monthly. This one from February 2016, a flaky danish pastry filled with house baked beans, avocado, soft boiled egg, pangrattatto and salted ricotta with side salad hit all the right places.

Then, there are the sweets…

Their doughnuts and sweet praline pastries are out of this world! When you bring these back to the office, the “ooohs and ahhhs” coming from other people’s desks are constant!

This Bastone with corned beef, Emmental cheese, sauerkraut, dill, pickles and Russian dressing had me declaring “best sandwich ever” on Instagram during one of my intoxicated moments! But really that corned beef though, all thick and luscious, with melted Emmental cheese and tangy sauerkraut had me in all sorts of dizzy ways! Please bring this one back A&K!

Another day another Danwich, this time a puffed up flaky pastry filled with chorizo, tomato and manchego and topped with a soft boiled egg. This had all the right warming flavours and spicy kick for the middle of autumn.

So in a nutshell, if you haven’t visited A&K before then I’d strongly recommend it… although please don’t take that last Gianduia Rocher doughnut because there is a good chance I’m on my way. If you want more delicious food pics, head over for the full blog HERE.
