Rory and Louise are the husband and wife duo behind Rory’s School Lunches. For 17 years they, along with Rory’s best mate Shane have been feeding kids fresh and healthy lunches in 45 schools across SA and catering all kinds of events. But within a matter of days, Covid-19 stole their livelihood and their loyal staff were put at a stand still.
But with truck loads of passion, smarts, and positivity, the threesome managed to navigate their way through the darkness and within a week, turned their school lunches and catering business into Rorys@Home delivery service!
Brilliant! Because everyone still needs fresh, home cooked food and even better, it’s delivered right to your door! Rory, Louise and Shane (Head of Operations) are now serving up home cooked and wholesome chef-made meals, groceries, SA milk and meat packs — and delivering them from McLaren Vale to Gawler every week day!
And the best part? It’s all contactless. You literally order online, and the next thing you know… DING-DONG, your finger-licking meal pack is being delivered to your front door.
“We’re locals supporting locals and we have amazing suppliers that we just adore like Nippys, Fleurieu Milk, our local butcher supplies us with the best meat, and all our groceries are sourced from local suppliers,” says Rory. They also understand, as parents of two growing teenage girls, that hard times are most difficult for families. “We’ve made our meal packages affordable so families can enjoy our meals without the guilt,” says Louise.
The “Rory’s” love story and friendship began many, many moons ago with a tiny coffee shop, which developed into a food production facility and catering company. They’ve continued to grow and expand year after year and they’re used to adapting to change. “The trickiest part of this new challenge is making sure our loyal staff (who are like family to us), are well looked after and supported. Louise and I have worked together nearly every day over this time, and I can quietly admit, when she is not here I do miss her. When things are tough just having her around gives me the strength to push through and do what needs to be done. It’s a privilege to have a partnership like this,” admits Rory.
So what’s on the menu? HEAPS! And because I’m a pig I ordered one of EVERYTHING and I’m not joking, for the first time ever, my entire family kept saying “Mum, this is the best dinner you’ve ever cooked.” (They don’t need to know the finer details, like I didn’t cook it, lols!)

This family meal kit contains a 1L heat and serve Butter Chicken Sauce, 500g of marinated Tandoori Chicken & enough Basmati Rice to serve 4 – 5 people. *The meals are so versatile, that after I cooked the Tandoori chicken, I thought it was SO delicious as it was, I ended up using the Butter Chicken sauce over drummies instead. So, we feasted on Tandoori Chicken AND Butter Chicken!
