As a woman living in 2017, I am well aware of the continued pressure put on females to slow the aging process, to remain their most radiant and to perfect their bodies to the greatest extent possible.

A lot of my clients come to me asking for the best ways to achieve these things and while there are the obvious like drink a lot of water, have a good skin care regime, there are also many genetic factors that can not be avoided.

Wrinkles, bags under the eyes, dark spots and sagging skin are all side effects of the body’s natural aging process and can’t always be avoided (unless you have the cheque book the size of a Kardashian) I have some simple, but very effective ways to avoid looking aged, dull and down right old.

LESS IS MORE

Unfortunately, some makeup can emphasise fine lines rather than cover them up. To avoid this, ensure that you use a lightweight moisturising foundation, or even a tinted moisturiser, to avoid the presence of fine lines.

The same goes for concealer, a little will go a long way if you are using the right product.
To cover up any discolouration under the eye area, use a colour corrector to avoid piling on the concealer underneath the eyes.

For example, if you are experiencing a blue discolouration under the eye area, use a colour corrector to cancel out the discolouration.

FOCUSS ON YOUR MAKEUP LOOK

To avoid looking aged, make sure that you make the eyes the focus of your makeup look, defining the eyes will make them look bigger.

Concentrate the majority of the eye makeup on the eye lid and avoid using eye shadows that have a lot of shimmer; as these can settle into fine lines making them look deeper and more defined.

Instead, use a matte eye shadow that will compliment your eye colour to make them appear more prominent.

Finally, avoid applying too much eye makeup to the lower lash line as it can drag the eye down and can make you appear tired, which inevitably leads to looking aged.

AVOID DARK LIPS

Lipstick is a favourite of many women, but to avoid looking aged, step one is to put down the dark lippy in favour of something a little lighter and less heavy on the lips.

Dark lips can weigh down the face and actually help to accentuate dark lines and wrinkles that would otherwise be avoided using a light lipstick such as a pale pink, light coral or nude.

So, with a few more dollars saved in the bank and a little less pain from the jabs, you can now rest assured that your beauty regime is effectively helping you to disguise the effects of aging rather than highlighting them.
