Hip-hip-hooray to beloved SA winery Peter Lehmann, as they celebrate over 30 vintages of their Stonewell Shiraz!

You may have sipped a glass of this full-bodied vino before, but now it’s time to celebrate one of Peter Lehmann’s most legendary wines that’s sourced from the best Shiraz grapes each vintage. And of course, they’re celebrating in true style with exclusive events and tasting opportunities for all to enjoy at their Barossa Valley Cellar Door.

A nod to the wine

Let us say a few words about the honoured birthday wine — Stonewell Shiraz. It debuted in 1987 and was created with one idea in mind — to be Peter Lehmann’s best Shiraz of vintage. And that’s exactly what it was! For over 30 vintages, it’s been celebrated as one of Australia’s greatest wines, and one of the WORLD’S greatest Shiraz offerings.

Named after the district that Peter Lehmann believed best showed the characteristics he admired most in Barossa Shiraz, Stonewell has held onto this name across each vintage and continues to use the very best Shiraz grapes from the winery’s extensive network of local growers.  Usually no more than a dozen small, old vineyards are selected each year to go into the Stonewell bottles, with the oldest planted in 1885.

Drink it with…

Stonewell Shiraz is a full-bodied wine with massive density and length, boasting a crimson rim with a deep black core and classic notes of blue and black fruits.

It’s ideal paired with rich meat dishes such as roast beef, but is equally enjoyable with cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano, aged Cheddar or Grana Padano.

Here’s how you can join in the celebrations…

Peter Lehmann Wines are not ones to shy away from a part-ay! And the celebration of their treasured Stonewell is no exception. Throughout July, August and September the team are flinging open their cellar doors and inviting guests to experience the ‘Story of Stonewell’ dinner or enjoy a ‘Story of Stonewell Tasting Experience’.
