I’m really coveting the latest trends in bathrooms; think luxurious freestanding baths, gorgeous Scandinavian inspired tiles, timber features and tap ware in alternate finishes such as brass, rose gold or matt black – delightful! Unfortunately, for most of us a luxe bathroom renovation isn’t on the cards. Don’t despair however, by taking style clues from magazine worthy bathrooms, you can use accessories to style your existing bathroom into an on-trend luxurious haven. Here are a few tips:
A simple accessory that not only looks good, but smells great, is an aromatherapy hand wash in a pretty dispenser. My favourites are the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash, $40.00 (1) and Salus Tuberose & Grapefruit Hydrating Hand Wash, $35.00 (2).
Baskets are a very much on-trend and affordable accessory, not to mention practical. Kmart has some great options at the moment. I especially love the White Dipped Basket, $19.00 (3) and Copper Coloured Basket, $12.00 (4).
Washable paper bags are another way of injecting texture or metallics into your bathroom. Use them as a pretty pot plant holder or to store toiletries and cosmetics. My picks are Country Road Sigrid Bag Pale Grey, from $19.95 (6) and Uashmama Metallic Bag Gold Brown, from $28.00 (5)
Beautiful feature towels add interest and texture. If you have a neutral bathroom, add colourful geometric towels like Ninnho Budgie Bathroom Towel, from $35.00 (7). For coloured bathrooms you can still get the look with similarly patterned towels but in neutral tones such as Home Republic Madison Velour in Coal, from $11.95 (currently on sale) (8). For bathrooms that contain busy features such as freezes, adding patterns can be a little tricker, I suggest a solid colour towel with a woven pattern such as Home Republic Brooklyn Textured Geo Grey Marle, from $11.95 (currently on sale) (9).
Stools are another accessory currently making a big appearance in bathrooms. They are also a great way of adding on-trend timber to an existing bathroom. My favourites are the mushroom inspired Ethnicraft Teak Pop Stool, $550.00 (11) and Merika Stool, $195.00 (10)
Scented Candles would have to be the ultimate luxury bathroom item. There are so many beautiful scents and vessels around to choose from. My top picks are the Palm Beach Collection Standard Candle French Vanilla, $39.95 (12) and (13).
