Well I don’t know about you, but the thought of sweltering in a wedding dress with sweat running down my forehead on a 40 degree day doesn’t appeal to me very much. But still, summer consistently seems to be the most popular season for weddings.
There is some misguided preconception that it rains in Adelaide during the cooler months, but in my experience, it can rain in Adelaide at any time. Hence why my favourite time of year for weddings is in Autumn.
Autumn is a stunning season, with beautiful colours and lovely mild days. The nights can get cool, but all the more reason to slip a cape over your shoulders, put on your dancing shoes and dance the night away with your wedding guests.
And then there’s the flowers. Beautiful seasonal blooms of Dahlias, David Austin Roses, Astilbe, Queen Anne’s Lace, Scabiosa and the list goes on, are available in gorgeous Autumnal tones of cinnamon pink, rust, copper, apricot, peach, dusty green and dark berry red.

What better way to create a cosy feeling of warmth at the party than with a delicious table of treats for the guests to enjoy after dinner. Although very American, I particularly love the idea of toasting marshmallows over a fire and making your very own ‘S’mores’ with gooey chocolate and biscuits. Or pigging out on donuts from the Donut Bar.
