Get eggs-cited Adeladies, because Walkerville has a new brunch baby on the outskirts of the city.

Let us introduce you to Yolk: Adelaide’s newest brunch-lovers destination that is serving up exactly what the inner north eastern suburbs have been missing.

The vibrant new spot has been brought to life by Zac Mucklow, former manager of Karma & Crow, so you know great coffee is a given — especially when the coffee is locally sourced from McLaren Vale roasters, Dawn Patrol.

True to its name, you can expect eggs on Yolk’s all-day breakfast and lunch menu. But these guys are eggs-celling at the brunch game, putting some seriously delicious spins on all your favourites.

Here, smashed avo is teamed up with roasted pumpkin — a match made in heaven — and finished off with pumpkin crumb and pine nuts.

A slow-roasted Bombay cauliflower is among several great vegetarian options, served with caramelised onions, pistachio, pomegranate and whipped fetta.

The Reuben toastie and salmon bagel are both made with house-cured pastrami and salmon, while their fried chicken katsu and American burger options put buttermilk fried chicken and burgers on the brekky menu … which we are very much in favour of!

Coffee meringue waffles topped with a torched meringue and butterscotch sauce make for a deliciously decadent choice.

My personal recommendation: the chilli scrambled eggs. I literally had it twice in one week — it’s that good!

Just like the menu, the space oozes a sense of fun and freshness. From the neon fried egg light that greets you on entry to the terrazzo countertops and exposed wooden rails lined with greenery, the place is light, bright and fun — seriously, #nofilters needed here.

Speaking of fun… when’s the last time you saw Milo on a menu? Yep, a Milo option sits among a delicious range of shakes, fresh juices and even a house-made lemongrass basil soda.

Dog lovers, rejoice, because Yolk’s recently launched 50-seat outdoor dining area is not only gloriously drenched in greenery and sunshine, it’s dog friendly too, which we love!

With their doors open from 7am daily, and a range of perfect take-away options on offer too — including bagels and fresh pastries — Yolk makes grabbing a good coffee on the way into work from the outer northeastern suburbs super convenient.
