Calling all pizza-loving, cocktail-guzzling Adeladies! We have found the most unique pizza place in SA and possibly Australia… Doughballs — The Pizza Place!
Right in the heart of Moseley Square in Glenelg is this fun, friendly, family dining experience that’s like nothing else in SA. “The food is simple but amazing, we have these perfectly proved Doughballs which are our signature dish, but also thin and crispy pizza bases that everyone drools over,” says owner Cat.
So, what are Doughballs? Let me take this one, I’m now an expert… Doughballs are twice proved dough, cooked in the oven and then served warm. They’re like little bite-sized tasty morsels that can be either sweet or savoury! ” The originals are served plain with garlic butter, but there are also lots of different toppings from Bruschetta and Baked Cheese, to our dessert options like Choc-Cinnamon, Snowball Doughballs and French Toast!
And who’s welcome…? “Everyone! We want people to come in straight from their day out on the beach, but also come in for date night. We have gorgeous views from our balcony upstairs and at sunset it’s very romantic” says Cat. Even though Doughballs is the new kid of the block, the staff feel like old friends and are super warm and welcoming. You just know you’ll be looked after.
Apart from Doughballs, what else is on the menu? Antipasto platters, the caprese salad (everyone’s fave), salt & pepper squid and of course PIZZA — and lots of it! They offer 12inch right up to 15inch thin and crispy pizzas, ideal for sharing and served with lots of gourmet toppings, like goat’s cheese and onion chutney, as well as all the Aussie faves like BBQ Chicken and Hawaiian! And if you like a wine with your balls, their wine list is full of your SA faves, so you’ll feel right at home.
Because nobody should have to deprive themselves of pizza, even if they are watching what they eat — let me tell you about their low carb pizza rings. Doughball’s Pizza Lite is a pizza minus the middle bit, so there’s less dough, which means less calories. They fill the hole with a garden salad — genius!
