When we fall, we fall hard. Say hello to our latest crushes!

There’s something about finding a brand that excites you, and then falling further in love once you meet the faces behind it. One of the most anticipated local markets on the calendar, Gathered Design Markets set the scene for us to cross paths with some incredible South Australian brands. They’ve now become regulars on our radar — here are a few we keep coming back to, again and again…

Six Times Seven

When Vanessa couldn’t find what she wanted in the shops, she started making pieces for herself and her daughter… and Six Times Seven was born! She hand makes every piece in the Adelaide Hills, using fabric designed by Australian women, so it’s local girl-power all the way! Vanessa’s quirky, fun and bold designs are unique canvasses of colour, and she proudly offers up pieces that look great but are comfy, too.

You’ll find camis, maxi dresses, tanks, sweaters, skirts, pants, tees, pinafores and more — and most of all, you’ll find unique retro-style vibes that you won’t get anywhere else. You’ll mostly catch Six Times Seven at markets, like Gathered, but from time to time, she’ll have things online too, so your best bet is to follow away on Instagram for your next chance to buy.

Kohl & Soda

We’ve never left this iconic Adelaide Hills fashion, accessories, art, homewares and gift store empty- handed — and their online store means you can shop it up any time of day or night! Lovely local owner Simone is style personified, and when you see her collection of SA and Australian designers, you’ll find it hard to resist a gift for someone special or just to treat yourself… and we’re all for that!

Some of our favourite fashion brands on offer include Mink Pink, Cartel & Willow, Betty Basics, Nude Lucy, Staple the Label and Brave + True. And we’re all inspired to make our houses more homely, with beautiful homewares brands like al.ive body, Ecoya, Etikette, Papaya, Madras Link and Robert Gordon. Any which way you look at it, Kohl & Soda serves up outstanding quality products without breaking the bank, and that’s our fave kind of shopping right there.

REB Cosmetics

If you catch us pouting, we’ve treated ourselves to some of the best lipsticks and glosses around! We are in love with REB Cosmetics’ vibrant lippies that are made right here in SA using the finest organic and mineral ingredients. This cruelty-free, clean beauty brand is totally vegan and has never been tested on animals — a big win in our eyes! REB’s lip products have incredible staying power, so you won’t have to touch up every five minutes, plus they won’t leave your lips like dried apricots because they’re pumped with moisturiser.

Apart from beautifying the markets, you’ll find REB’s full range of lip liners, liquid foundation, pressed foundation, trio concealer, bronzer, blush, mascara, pencil eyeliners, eye shadows and accessories online or instore at Semaphore. Plus, check out REB’s Tween Collection, which is perfect for those youngsters who are keen to embrace makeup without going over the top. Gorge!

Floaty florals, minis, maxis, reliable staples and flattering fits in a range of sizes — what’s not to love about a little boho vibe! BohoSquad is all about effortless style, quality brands and fast and fab customer service — and we are sucked in (tractor-beam-style) whenever our eyes catch a glimpse of their goodies!

We love BohoSquad’s colourful range of dresses, tops, bottoms, jackets, slouchy knits, kimonos and accessories, and find ourselves layering and swapping their trans- seasonal pieces all year-round. Their dresses are perfect for throwing on when you’re having a coffee catch-up, and can be easily dolled up with boots, sandals or a jacket to take you through to dinner dates or work gigs. And with slides, sneakers and slippers in their shoe range, your tootsies are covered 24/7, too. It’s all about affordable, fun dressing, and that’s right up our alley!

Brewed By Belinda

You can look at or listen to art, but have you ever tasted it? Brewed By Belinda is the easel for South Australian Certified Tea Master and Certified Tea Blender, Belinda Hellyer — and her 100 percent organic loose leaf teas, and herbal and fruit tisanes are artworks that will transport you to another world. She describes her tea creations as “art you can drink!”, with a story and intention behind each blend that’s filled with special ingredients. Not to mention how beautiful every creation looks, with particular blends of tea, flowers, herbs and fruit, so your eyes get to join in the fun, too.

Belinda also teaches the alchemy of tea with her blending workshops, so you can create your own to share with family and friends, and you’ll be buzzing for a fancy tea party with her range of designer Japanese glass teaware and exclusive, handmade porcelain teacups.

Transform Scents

Life’s better when it smells beautiful. Made locally in the Adelaide Hills, Transform Scents creates handmade soy wax candles, amber reed diffusers, room sprays and candle accessories that are an affordable way to add a little luxury to each day.

There are over 15 scents on the menu, and just their names get us excited about the feelings they can evoke. Imagine the homely smell and crispness of Clean Linen; Nectarine and Mint for a burst of citrusy freshness without being overpowering; French Pear for a rich and delicious buzz; and Cubans and Brandy for a sophisticated vibe that’s particularly loved by lads. Transform Scents also offers some delightful other smell-good moments, with car diffusers, in-memory candles, and candles with funny captions that make great gifts!
