When you mention ‘Endota” to a woman, she’ll probably quiver with excitement. Then she’ll smile from ear to ear, because she knows Endota means happiness and relaxation.

Endota Spa has been making South Australian’s happy since 2004. And it was started, here, by a super Adelady named Karmen Wakelin.

Karmen moved to Adelaide in 2002, to follow love. And thank god she did, because that love has now turned into a husband and three small to medium-sized children.

After moving to Adelaide, she worked her way up in corporate marketing roles. That was until she realised what really made her happy was entertaining the idea of running her own business — a business that could make so many other SA women and men happy too. WIN-WIN!

In 2004, Karmen and her business partner opened their first Endota Spa on Rundle Street. And in October this year, she started Endota Spa at Burnside Village, which was her first solo venture!

In between running a successful day spa, she’s just finished renovating her Unley home. Oh and all while running around after her three kids, aged ten, eight and six.

“Being a business owner, on the weekends I really like to stop and enjoy an early morning hike with a dear friend; followed by lunch at Chinatown with the family (and the weekly shop in the Central Market); then reading the weekend papers (which rarely happens).”

On behalf of all Adeladies who have been lucky enough to visit Endota Spa, we’d love to welcome the woman who started it.

Karmen is this week’s Inspirational Adelady and these are her fave places in Adelaide:

FAVE PLACE FOR WEEKEND BREKKY

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I do love the baked eggs at A Mother’s Milk on Unley Road. I also love Chianti on Hutt Street for a special breakfast.

FAVE PARK TO TAKE THE KIDS

Belair National Park. I grew up in the country and this is about as close as it gets. And it’s only 15 minutes from our doorstep! I love that the kids can run free, climb trees, race leaf boats down the creek and explore nature. We can spend hours there and the kids never get bored.

FAVE WEEKEND GETAWAY

Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula. It’s a bit too far away for a weekend, but my in-laws have a shack there and we love to visit whenever we get the chance. It’s the most relaxing place on Earth — no shops (not even a coffee shop) and no pretence. Just a row of shacks on the absolute beach front.

FAVE ENDOTA PRODUCT

With our recently reformulated range, it’s hard to chose just one. At the moment, I’m loving the lilly-pilly and lime gradual tanner. It gives you a lovely sun-kissed glow and most importantly, it doesn’t smell like fake tan! I am also in love with the Radiance boost serum. It’s packed with antioxidants and botanicals. I pop it under my night cream every night, which helps to keep my skin looking fresh and hydrated.

FAVE COFFEE OR JUICE BAR

I don’t drink coffee but Nutrition Republic on King William Road make a great green smoothie. I also frequent Goodies and Grains at the Central Market for freshly squeezed vegetable juice.
