DECOR

Even though Patch is a stone’s throw away from Stirling or Aldgate, you feel like you could be on holidays in the middle of the Parisian countryside. Bonjour! The building is at least 100 years old and even though it’s been renovated, it still appears like an old, stone-fronted cottage with an English country garden out the back. You might even find the lovely chef frolicking through their veggie patch, it’s THAT fresh! There are so many options for dining. You can chow down in a comfy booth, or at a selection of tables and chairs inside. If it’s a nice day though, outside is where it’s at! You can sit at a table or why not pull up a picnic rug? They have a gorgeous garden out the back fitted with a cubby house, lawn area, bathrooms and a wonderfully sweet flower shop, IvyShed! Oh, and the staff are as lovely as their homemade cakes!

FOOD

They don’t do a breakfast menu and the kitchen doesn’t start cooking until lunchtime. However, they DO have a glass cabinet filled with delicious sweet and savory treats for you to indulge in all morning. Each time I have been there, the treats change, from warm banana bread with caramel sauce to crunchy chocolate slice. Patch offers plenty of vegetarian options, freshly-squeezed juices and even home-made lemonade. And they change up the menu regularly, so every time you go, there’s another tempting dessert. As for the coffee, well, any place that has a ‘mug option’ is always a winner.

KID-FRIENDLY?

PERECT spot for babies or children of any size. It’s so good that I feel like I could just drop my kids off here and go shopping! They have an indoor room with toys, books and a blackboard for drawing. On Thursdays from 9:30-10:30am, they have yoga classes for kids, where they get to stretch, explore, play and create. The kids’ yoga classes are perfect for mums to get a much-needed coffee break. There’s a cubby house, sandpit and a chicken pen to keep the kids entertained for hours.

+ VIBE :: Family friendly, playful, fun

+ COFFEE :: 5 stars (or 6 if that’s possible)

+ FOOD :: 4.5 stars
