The cellar door is an idyllic spot to pop past for a tasting or to enjoy a cheeseboard full of locally sourced produce — next to the fire in winter or on a picnic rug by the vines in summer. And, if you’ve got a shindig on the horizon, the grounds make a picturesque backdrop for a wedding or special occasion.
Headed up by Geoff Merrill himself, everything about the winery reflects his 50-plus years in the industry — down to the family members who work in the business, sharing his wines and his legacy.
If you’re looking for perfectly balanced and aged wine, then this classic label is made for you. Their delicious traditional wines go all the way back to 1980, but things are moving and shaking with their recently launched brand new wine range.

Encompassing Geoff’s inner larrikin, by Merrill is made for the next generation of wine lovers. Designed to match your mood, every bottle comes with its own unique character and tagline, each named after Geoff, his wife Annie, and his children Charley, Georgie, and Nic.
You won’t find an in-depth description on the back of these labels either — instead, this range of wine is made to be experienced, so you can give each wine a go and decide what you like on your own terms. Fresh, fruity, and far from overpowering, the Dancing Queen Riesling, Georgie May Chardonnay, Charley Rose Dry Rosé, Saint Nic Shiraz Cabernet and the Grumpy Gramps Grenache are made to crack open now (although a little birdie tells me the reds would also go well in a couple of years).
