Hands up who wants a baker’s man who can bake us a cake as fast as he can?

We’ve all been there — the school bake sale, a last-minute playdate or someone unexpectedly drops by and you just don’t have the time (or the skills) to whip up something delicious. This is where Kytons has your back.

Locally made in Adelaide since 1938 (currently in Edwardstown), this iconic South Aussie brand gives you award winning home-style baking that can conveniently be stored in your fridge, freezer or pantry, ready for those unexpected moments.

Kytons has been around for eons, and one thing that hasn’t changed is their commitment to quality — you can taste it in every bite. Think handy treats like crunchy cookies, LaWaffles, fluffy little clouds of lamington goodness, slices and soul-warming hot cross buns.

They do pies and pasties for the savoury lovers, and add a splash of decadence to your afternoon snack with macadamia slice or rocky road.

So, what’s their secret? It’s simple — a stack of top-quality, mainly local ingredients and a whole lotta love. Their products are so much more than something you just stuff in your gob.

As owner Sharon says, “It’s a lamington shared between a grandparent and grandchild, the hot cross buns on the Easter weekend… It’s all about a tasty excuse to bring family and friends together to create special moments”.

Behind the scenes

A family-founded business, Kytons Bakery has kept that connection — it’s been sold twice but only ever to a family friend of the previous owner.

It was written in the stars for current owners Darren and Sharon Sutton to take over the reins in 2003, given Darren spent his teenage years working at the bakery during the busy Easter period. These close ties speak volumes about the foundation of trust and passion behind this much-loved brand.

Refresh your tastebuds

The Kytons’ crew makes gifts super simple with their gift hampers all year round, along with themed gifts at Christmas and Easter. Pop into their Edwardstown Bakery to buy products right from the source, grab them from a bunch of great retailers in SA, or order online from the comfort of your couch. However you go about it and whatever your taste, Kytons will bring a ray of deliciousness to your day. Pro tip: Why wait for Easter? Get your Kytons hot cross buns now.

Flashback

Twenty or so years ago, schools and kindies were buzzing with lamington drives, so chances are you’ve happily munched on a Kytons Lamington. The best news — they’re still just as delectable and even come in cute-as-a-bug’s-ear mini size, perfect for lunchbox treats or with a cuppa.

They’re so fresh, you’ll find them in the fridge section at your local Drakes or Foodland. Yummo! And yes, they still do those drives, so if you have a sporting club, social group or school, ask Kytons about fundraising with their yummy lamingtons, hot cross buns and other goodies.

Now, if you’ll excuse me… I’m slightly peckish.
