There’s a new(ish) sushi place in town, and I am here for it! Let me tell you a little about Hanamura

Ever since we left school, my two best friends and I have regularly caught up over a sushi dinner. If we’re in a mad rush and don’t have a lot of time, we usually opt for Sushi Train, but if it’s a special occasion or we just really miss each other, we generally head for Sushi Planet. So yeah, we’re basically experts… lols.

You can imagine our excitement when we got together for Sushi Night at a brand new restaurant — Hanamura in Norwood. After instantly falling in love with the decor and the hanging flowers in Instagram pics, we made it our mission to get there ASAP.

We were absolutely not disappointed! After settling down in a comfy and very private booth (important for all the chinwagging that was about to go down), we ordered some delicious local Down The Rabbit Hole Tempranillo and enough food to feed a table of 10 — even though there was only three of us.

Our starter of steaming hot salty Edamame Beans hit the spot, as did the Wasabi Cream Kingfish which was almost too pretty to eat.

As soon as the sushi platters hit the table, we were straight into a feeding frenzy. Every single piece was fresh as can be and beautifully presented. The best part was that I also ordered some takeaway to take home to my partner, and the quality was just as high as the in-house experience. Yummo.

I’ve already got a plan for the next time I visit, and it involves skewers and cocktails — and I couldn’t be more excited. If you’re a sushi lover, you have to add Hanamura to your must-visit list.

You’ll find Hanamura in the Hoyts Cinema complex on The Parade, Norwood.
