The wheels of change are in motion! Statewide Super is taking action and leading the charge when it comes to the sponsorship of women’s sport.

The win by the AFLW Adelaide Crows team put South Australia’s female sporting stars on the map, but there’s still a lot that needs to be done.

In 2015, The Age newspaper reported that only eight per cent of the $780 million that Australian businesses spend on sports sponsorships each year is awarded to women’s sport.

It would be great if we lived in a world where little girls could dream of creating a future for themselves playing the sport they love as a professional athlete.

Statewide Super has launched its Women’s Sport Sponsorship Program ‘We’ve Got This’ to work towards closing the sponsorship gap.

The South Australian based industry fund will dedicate up to $150,000 in its first year to support our South Australian female sporting organisations, to be reviewed annually.

Any peak women’s sporting body that represents metro and regional SA will have the opportunity to apply for up to $15,000 per year of these funds.

So, get online and apply! All you need to do is tell Statewide Super about your commitment to women in sport and how female athletes, from mini-league and up, will benefit directly from the sponsorship.

Applications will be open from Tuesday, 10th October 2017 and close Friday, 3rd November 2017. Visit www.statewide.com.au/weve-got-this for more information.
