Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

Winterfest at Our Port is BACK from July 6 to July 22! And it’s even bigger and more fun than last year! If you weren’t lucky enough to experience the magic of last year’s festival… then chuck on your skates and I’ll get you up to speed. Because this festival is for EVERYONE!

Here’s everything you can expect at Winterfest 2018.

1. FUN ON THE ICE

The Port’s giant waterfront ice skating rink is the star of the show again! You can strap on the skates every day from 10am and have fun on the ice while taking in the beautiful sights of Port Adelaide! This ice rink is for both adults and kids. And if you’re no Tonya Harding, you can always hire a skating penguin to help you on your way.

2. LONG LUNCHES

Everybody LOVES a long lunch — and Winterfest is having two of them! The first one (on July 15) will mark the end of NAIDOC week and be a delicious Indigenous-inspired spread. The second, will be entirely plant based and hosted by the super talented Masterchef 2017 contestant Sam Whitehead and his sister Yasmin. Both of these long lunches will be outstanding!

For more details, and to book, skate on over HERE.

3. HAVE A LAUGH

This year, we welcome a new addition to Winterfest — The Ice Cube! By day, this venue will open its doors to a cavalcade of entertainment shows, and crafts for kids + adults. By night, the Ice Cube will become the coolest place to be for comedy and live music.

4. ADULT WORKSHOPS

There are so many workshops, so here is just a taste…

:: The Art of a Natural Christmas Workshop

DIY is so on-trend at the moment! And a DIY Christmas will not only save you heaps, it will also add so much more personality to your special day! At this year’s Winterfest, you can experience ‘The Art of a Natural Christmas’ with the lovely Rebecca Sullivan. You’ll learn how to take natural (chemical-free) ingredients and turn them into thoughtful gifts for friends and family. At the end of the day you’ll take take home everything you make and you’ll also cash in on a glass of something Christmassy!

:: Choir Workshop

You get to join members of the awesome Gospo Collective in an exclusive workshop where no experience is necessary! You’ll try your hand at southern style gospel, spiritual tunes and modern gospel pop/rnb.  If you’ve always been moved by gospel music, this one is for you!

:: Pub Choir Workshop

Pub Choir on a mission to prove that EVERYONE can sing! Especially when you’re in the safety of hundreds of other voices. This workshop will teach you a song in 3-part harmony in 90 minutes. You’ll get to perform it twice, and even have your own video to prove you did it!

5. KID’S FUN

There are workshops for every kind of kid! For the foodies, try your hand at the Cookie Making Workshop. For the little artists, the Little Picasso Workshop will get you sculpting, painting, and basically get your hands creatively filthy. Or, for the Christmas lovers, you can learn how to make your very own Christmas toppers, or baubles.

6. PETER COMBE

Yes! The man himself will be there. Peter Combe will be doing two different shows. One for the kids AND one for the adults!

7. EVERYBODY LOVES A MARKET

Because it was so damn popular last year, The Market is back in full swing this year with loads of stalls to tickle your fancy and your wallet. Take a wander through the historic Hart’s Mill Packing Shed where you’ll find handmade homewares, local art, new and vintage fashion, kidswear and toys, jewellery, trinkets and more.

Last year, the entire Adelady team left with matching beanies, gloves, earrings and VERY happy heart!

8. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD

With food truck a-plenty and a giant food/ bar hall to chow down in, you will not be short of something to warm your bellies. Hot tip, the warm pretzels are finger-licking good! They also have a licensed bar at the Flour Shed, so you can relax over a red wine or even better, try some delicious, wintery mulled wine.

9. ROVING PERFORMERS

These guys and gals pepper Winterfest with real life magic! You’ll see magicians, singers and delightful performers roving the festival each day.

10. RELAX AND UNWIND

There’s one place to do this — The Snow Lounge! Having so much fun can be exhausting, so after you’ve taken your skates off, you’ve done a spot of shopping and you’ve experienced a workshop or two, head here for some RnR.

There’ll also be three Sunday morning charity events: Winterfest Run, Winterfest Plunge and Winterfest Bark. Oh, and we forgot to mention, dogs welcome on leashes in all outdoor areas. Woof!

So, save Hart’s Mill into your GPS asap and we’ll see you a Winterfest in July! To find out more head over HERE.
