Asiafest — great last year, but my Gaawwwwd, it’s going to be epic this year. From October 2nd, Rymill Park will be transformed into Asia for a ten day festival with all your favourite Asian delights! From Karaoke Bars and floating markets to a Full Moon Party, this year is already BEYOND amazing! Here are ten reasons why you must go this year:

1. Melting Pot Markets

Take a stroll through the backstreets of Hong Kong into an authentic Asian market. Selling absolutely anything and everything, you can go home with a new bag AND a new haircut! Make sure you bring your best bartering skills with you.  We’re sure the shop owners will get, ‘Best price for you’.

2. Asian countries

This year, you’ll go on a journey in and out of five Asian countries: Japan, China, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. You’ll receive a full cultural experience in each country including traditional food, loads of free entertainment and beautiful décor to make you feel like you’re actually standing in that country. Make sure you bring your passport!

*You won’t need to bring your passport.

3. Floating Markets

Asiafest will transform Rymill Park’s picturesque lake into a floating marketplace of traditional Vietnamese food, tropical fruits, coconuts, rice hats and so much more.

4. Uncle Wang’s Asian Grocery & Bar

Come have a drink with Uncle Wang! He’ll be open late every night throughout the festival. Uncle Wang loves to party, so go there for the delicious bevies — and stay for Uncle Wang. You won’t want to leave. #UncleWang

5. Asian Restaurants

Bringing together 25 of Adelaide’s best Asian restaurants including Star of Siam, Sushi Planet, Citi Zen, Ginza Miyako, Vietnam Restaurant, Samurai Teppanyaki and Nu Thai! It’s like the best of Gouger Street in one place! I’ve got duck curry seeping from my pores already.

7. Asiafest Comedy Wingding

Need we say more? You had me at Wingding! If you love to laugh, get ready for an Asian comedy gala like no other. The lineup is beyond amazing including: Jason Chong, Priya Malik, Jennifer Wong, Andrew Chu, Kazumi Kusano, Jason Leong and Vivek Mahbubani.

8. Phi and Me

While you’ve got the giggles, let’s go to Vietnam with a show that will have you in stitches. A Vietnamese mother and son take the stage in a hilarious comedy show about second generation Vietnamese-Australians. My face is hurting already.

9. Escape Travel’s ‘Take me to Asia’ Activation

Pick a country in Asia. Japan? Cool, throw on a Kimono, stand in front of a green screen and NEK MINUTE a photo has been uploaded to social media of you standing in the middle of Tokyo. Hashtag jealous friends!

10. Karaoke

Yep, this is Novatech’s baby. And it happens to be my favourite part of Asiafest. They’ve pimped out a shipping container and turned it into one hell of a good time with a huge range of English and Asian music to choose from. You’ll find this gem in The Melting Pot Markets.
