With cycling fever hitting Adelaide again for the 2016 Santos Tour down Under, it would be rude of me not to highlight a great South Australian cyclist. So please welcome the Queen of cycling — Annette Edmondson!
At just twenty-four, Annette has a big wad of medals hanging from her door — she won gold medals in both the Omnium and Team Pursuit at the 2015 Track World Championships in France. She also won gold and silver medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well as bronze in the women’s omnium at the 2012 Olympics. So, it’s fair to say she’s kind of a big deal!

If you were lucky enough to go to school with Annette, at either Victor Harbor Primary School or St John’s Grammar, you’d remember her as the girl who did every sport imaginable — and we hear, she excelled at each and every one! She was one of THOSE kids.
“My favourite things to do when I’m not training are to head to the beach, relax with friends watching movies at home, meet friends at a coffee shop, or if there’s enough time, get out a blank canvas and start painting. I also like to travel, experience different cultures and am fascinated by language”, she says.
And even though she’s a super healthy athlete, she also has a “dark” side. “I am obsessed with chocolate milk and have to admit that I was a chocoholic, forcing myself to go on a year-long ban in 2010. I am glad to report that things are much better in that department now!”
As we sit here in our lycra cycling gear and helmets, we raise our Cibo coffees to this woman, and welcome her as this week’s Inspirational Adelady! These are her fave places in Adelaide:

The Locavore in Stirling for fresh, locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection! Or Etica Pizzaria on Gilles for a cute, cosy Italian dish with close friends. I’m also a sucker for Asian food, so Ding Hao on Gouger St is always a winner!
FAVE PLACE TO SHOP
Rundle Street Boutiques. There are so many goodies you can find in these shops, you just have to spend a bit of time…
FAVE PLACE FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY
Victor Harbor! I grew up there so I always feel at home when I go back. It’s a cute little town, great to clear the mind with a walk up the Bluff or across the causeway to Granite Island.
