Meet the beautiful Carmel Margaritis. She’s the head designer and creator of Carmelina Bags and has made a living out of doing what she loves. As you read this, thousands of women all over Adelaide (and the world) are bowing down to her, thanking her for creating the perfect and most stylish baby bags!
Carmelina Bags are designed by mums, for mums. Launched in early 2012, Carmel, who is also the head choreographer for the Adelaide 36ers / mother of two / face of Caffé Primo, decided she’d had enough of dysfunctional baby bags. As a self-confessed shopaholic, who loves keeping up with the latest trends, she chose to design her own.
She wanted to create a bag that was multifunctional; one where she didn’t have to continuously move her stuff in and out of a handbag, whenever she was going out on her own. “My idea came to me while laying in bed one night, thinking, wouldn’t it be great if there was a baby bag that had a detachable clutch, where I could put all my bits and pieces?”
And so, the Signature Carmelina Detachable Clutch was born. “I made the first sample out of a Huggies Nappy box and straightaway, my instincts told me this concept was a unique and great one.”
And I can say, as a mum and the owner of a gorgeous Carmelina, she really has created the best baby bag ever! Today, she’s our Inspirational Adelady – inspiring women and helping busy mums all over SA.

1. FAVE PLACE TO DRINK
Well, two young girls = not much drinking time. (Unless we’re talking coffee?) I see so many stunning new places opening in Adelaide, but it’s hard to get to them all. The one place I did go to (and fell head over heels in love with) was, 2KW Bar and Restaurant.

It’s nice and relaxing, with such a beautiful view of our city. You’ll find this awesome bar eight floors up, on the corner of King William Street and North Terrace. It’s cool, light and bright in summer, and warm and cosy in winter.

2. FAVE PLACE TO EAT
Besides my Pollo Avocado at Caffé Primo, it kind of depends on what I’m craving and what sort of mood I’m in. I do love my food though!
For Chinese, it’s always Ying Chow Chinese Restaurant on Gouger Street. Classic Chinese with no frills, but their food is always so delish!

For Italian, I love Osteria on Glen Osmond Road. I’m devastated it’s closed for renovations at the moment; I’ll be the first one on their doorstep the day they reopen!

For brunch, The Store on Melbourne Street is just gorgeous. And they do some of the best eggs in Adelaide!

3. FAVE PLACE TO SHOP
I prefer to shop at small boutiques in Adelaide. My three favourites are TuYu, Karibu and Azalia. I love them because of the personal one-on-one service I get. I’m there all the time and I’ve come to know the girls in these boutiques fairly well. Now, I just walk in and they know what to pull out for me – they know my style. Plus, I find they accommodate for a variety of price points too.
