If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to appreciate what we have… and in South Australia, we’ve got excellent wine in abundance.

Taylors Wines won over our tastebuds AND our hearts after they kindly donated all of the wine to our Longest Table Dinner, helping us raise over $58,000 for Australian Breast Cancer Research. We love this family-owned winery in the heart of Clare, and you should too. Here’s why…

If you’re like us and itching to get out of the city, a quick trip to the Clare Valley to visit Taylors Wines Cellar Door is the perfect getaway.

Only a 90-minute drive from Adelaide, the winery is located in the southern end of Clare. Surrounded by rolling hills and winding streams, Taylors Cellar Door has a magnificent view to kick back, relax and enjoy some of South Australia’s finest wine.

For those sunny days, the garden area is available to enjoy a glass of wine with a smorgasbord of cheese, followed by a fun game of boules or cricket on the large luscious lawn area. If you’re a wine fanatic and your interest in grapes goes beyond just drinking it, a Behind The Scenes Winery Tour will give you a full education on the creation of wine. Learn how great wines are created and get hands-on to blend your own wine.

If you’re in the market to stock up on some bottles of wine for the festive season, Taylors’ Cellar Door offers two different tasting experiences to help you choose! The Pinnacle Tasting Experience gives you the opportunity to sample their wines from their St. Andrews range, The Visionary and The Pioneer, and break up the palette with a tasting board made from local produce. This experience also allows you to learn about the vineyards and Taylors’ unique wine making method.

Alternatively, if you have more of a sweet tooth The Wine and Chocolate Tasting Experience is the perfect fit, allowing you to taste four of their award-winning wines and match them with selected Cuvée chocolate pieces.

The property spans 1900 acres which makes it the perfect backdrop for your wedding or special event. With tailored packages, they can cater for both intimate and larger events.

I might be a wine drinker, but I’m by no means a wine expert — so lets pass the buck over to the Taylors team to share three of their favourite wines and what foods they would pair it with.

Taylors Estate Rosé 2020

Our beautifully bottled rosé is perfect as we head into the lushness of spring. It’s made in a classic Provence style so light, crisp, and dry with lush red berry fruit. Perfect for a summer charcuterie board or even lamb skewers on the bbq

TWP (Taylors Winemaker’s Project) Riesling 2019

Nothing says Clare Valley sunshine like a bottle of Riesling! Our Riesling is crisp, refreshing and elegant with a lively balance of bright acidity. Perfect for a plate of fish and chips.

Taylor Made Wild Ferment Pinot Noir 2019

For a summer red, we recommend our Pinot Noir. It’s very light in body but generous in flavour. We love having this one slightly chilled and paired with grilled salmon.

So, what are you waiting for? This summer, head out to Taylors Wines Cellar Door and finish off 2020 with a nice glass of wine!
