Halloween has been and gone for another year but the idea disguising healthy food as something special works a treat with kids!
The Australian Institute of Fitness’ Training Team Captain, Darren Fidge has some fun, healthy and EASY to make your kid’s treats fun, delicious AND healthy!
GHOST BANANAS AND TASTY PUMPKINS
Turning bananas and mandarins into ghosts and scary pumpkins is so more much to eat, right?!
Banana’s are a AWESOME source of energy, and potassium, which is great for a healthy heart, and combined with three cacao nibs (or dark chocolate chips), to create a ghost face, eating bananas has never been this fun.
EVIL APPLES
Easy, yet effective, evil apples aren’t as scary as they look, and will have you craving the fresh, crisp taste of an apple.
As the saying goes, ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away,’ so simply, using a knife, carve your scariest face into the apple including eyes and teeth, and your done!
THE ONE EYED MONSTERS
Using a crispy green apple as the base, cut up two slices to use as the lips, fill with a slither of nut butter, and fill in the teeth using peanuts.
To create an eye, stick a cacao nib onto a marshmallow using a small amount of nut butter and position on top of the apple slices.
BOO – NANAS
To create these scary creatures, dunk your bananas in plain greek yoghurt, and then coat them with shredded coconut. To give your Boo-Nanas the full effective, use melted dark chocolate to paint on eyes and a mouth.
Enjoy!
