Within 5 minutes of walking into this funky wine bar Mischief & Mayhem, I think we’d said “wow” about 17,000 times. Around every single corner, in every single nook, is a new experience on offer and we just can’t get enough.
The vibrant owner Marie welcomes every newcomer as if they’re an old friend, and proudly shows them around the business that she’s created with her son, Jackson. We walked in with no expectations at all, and were completely blown away by this charming space filled with up-cycled furniture and original artwork — that Marie has painted herself! I was also excited to see one lady using a giant leopard print shoe as a chair, because… why not?
House-turned-wine-bar, Mischief & Mayhem is made up of several rooms all running off of a central hallway. Each room has it’s very own fireplace, and oozes warmth and character. There’s a constant stream of live music from various performers — whether it’s coming from buskers that just wander in, or from the local residency every Sunday. The musician might be confined to one room or out in the sunny beer garden, but the music floats through the house so you don’t miss out, no matter where you’re sitting.
And so far, we’ve barely scratched the surface.
On the weekends, they serve up brekky and then stay open all day as people cruise in and out. The best part, in my personal opinion, is that you can also bring along your furry friend since the venue is pet friendly (except for one room, which is safe and sound from dog germs for anyone with allergies).
If you feel like a nibble later on in the day, the chef has a tapas menu that can have you salivating just from the smells coming out of the kitchen, and during the evening there’s plenty of wine on offer for a catch up with your girlfriends, all of which are small batch wines that are locally sourced from around Australia. Marie knows that us girls looooove a chat, so she’s designed the space for groups to get together and actually hear each other over the background noise.
And as if that’s not enough to keep the Mischief & Mayhem team busy, they’re also licensed for events with up to 200 people, which shuts down the joint and creates a buzz in every room.
