She’s the gorgeous face of Adelaide’s Channel Nine News and an even more gorgeous face to her husband, Leigh and eight-month old son, Harvey. Kate Collins completed her journalism degree in 2006 and began her career as a Channel 31 presenter and radio newsreader. She then worked her way to the top and has been the Channel Nine News anchor for the last few years.

She shares a desk with the loveable Brenton Raggless and the vivacious weather presenter, Virginia Langeberg.

She’s a great journalist and an even better juggler — taking the term working mum to a whole new level. After her beautiful baby boy was born early this year, she was back at work, looking fresh-faced within a few months. You’d never tell that she’s a sleep-deprived mum! And today, she’s our Inspirational Adelady.

These are her fave places in Adelaide:

FAVE PLACE FOR A  DRINK  (OR TWO)

As a new mum, it’s always a long time between drinks! So if I can manage to get myself out of the house and tizzied up a little, you’ll generally find me hanging around one of our fabulous wineries on a Sunday. I love Mollydooker, Coriole and Bird In Hand and the views at Pyke and Joyce in the Adelaide Hills are second to none.

FAVE HAIRDRESSER

I’m very lucky at Channel Nine to have the very spunky and talented Dani Eastick cut, colour and do my do for the news five nights a week. She’s also a great makeup artist, so I’m very spoilt. If I am not able to get my hair done through work, I love visiting the girls at Clip Joint in North Adelaide. Rachel and Ogi looked after me for years and know my hair inside and out.

FAVE DESSERT BAR

I’m a massive sweet tooth and my husband is not, so I’m not often visiting dessert bars, but when I can hit them up with my girlfriends, you can find me getting rather involved with the lolly and chocolate fondue at Bracegirdles, or knocking back a few too many peanut butter cupcakes from BTS. Mmmmmmm…..

FAVE PLACE FOR A MEAL

I am a massive fan of Sean’s Kitchen in the Adelaide Casino precinct. His food is to DIE FOR. I had the lamb shoulder last time and almost melted onto the ground it was that good. Seriously, they can put on a spread!

FAVE PLACE TO SHOP

We are so spoilt for choice here in SA. We have a great selection of local labels to help us look great. I love everything that Australian Fashion Labels are putting out at the moment, especially the talented Mr. Chris Kontos and TY-LR. I got to wear one of his gowns recently to host a charity gala ball and I felt a million bucks.

FAVE PLACE FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY

My in-laws own a farm in the state’s south east, where they run Angus Beef. It’s such a beautiful part of SA, so green and so removed from all the hustle and bustle back in town. We love getting away and getting a little bit off the grid when we can. It’s been an extra joy being able to introduce our little boy to the farm too – although he’s not too sure about the big cows who make loud noises!

Lovely to learn a bit more about you Kate (I was in a year above you at the same high school)… Congratulations on all your success at Channel 9 and becoming a mother 🙂
